Several Tea Party icons, including Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Sarah Palin, and former Representative Allen West (R-FL), are urging Tea Party activists around the country to help Republicans take back the majority in the U.S. Senate in next weeks 2014 mid-term elections through a low budget but heart-felt social media campaign of personalized YouTube videos.
Dollar for dollar, these short YouTube pitches may end up being the most cost-effective assistance the Republican Party receives in the last week of the campaign. Targeted at the passionate Tea Party conservatives who powered the huge wave in the 2010 mid-terms that saw the Republicans take back a majority in the House of Representatives, the videos attempt to make the case that, despite four years of Republican establishment backsliding on the promises of the 2010 election, the future of the country depends on the outcome of the 2014 election.
These pitches, coming from Tea Party-aligned political leaders who enjoy high levels of trust with Tea Party activists around the country, are a timely boost for the Republican Party. Tea Party activists are not particularly enthused about the choices in the 2014 general election, whose marquis contest in the Kentucky U.S. Senate race will turn on whether Tea Party Republicans show up and vote for McConnell, nose-holding or not, as Sam Youngman at the Lexington Herald Leader reported.
With the losses of Tea Party-endorsed candidates in Republican primaries in Kentucky, Mississippi, Kansas, and Tennessee, Tea Party activists have no one left to cheer for. As a result, most consider this a hold your nose election where they are forced to vote for the least bad option, which in most cases is the moderate Republican, as opposed to the far left Democrat (in Kansas, the far left Democrat is listed on the ballot as an Independent).
The Tea Party icons in these videos are reminding the true believers in limited government that sometimes the best course of action is to hold your nose and vote for the least bad option, especially if one result of that vote will be the deposing of Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) as the majority leader of the U.S. Senate.
The low budget YouTube videos have an equally low budget distribution mechanism. Sources tell Breitbart News that several groups including Americans for Limited Government, Tea Party Patriots, and For America, a conservative 501 c 4 whose Facebook page has more than six million likes will be sending links out to these videos in their regular email messages.
Representative Louie Gohmerts video begins with the assertion that this is a country in trouble. Every Tea Party activist, he urges, should vote as if your country depends on it.
With less than a week until election day, these Tea Party icons are hoping that the anticipated small margin needed for victory by Republican candidates in several key swing states may come from Tea Party activists energized by their YouTube video pitches.
Hard to believe you are either so dense you cannot understand the complaint or so bellicose you would use the extremely liberal mechanism of hyperbole to build your straw man so you can knock it right back down.
No sarcasm involved in this post...
This is because there's no clear conservative
message or vision.
(I put conservative in quotes because it means different things to different people: "status quo" to some, "enforcing religious beliefs via government" to others, "wanting limited government" to still others.)
I'd be more than happy to vote for someone who (a) respects and honors the Constitution, and (b) is driven/dedicated to stamping out government corruption.
When I walk out of the polling place tomorrow, I am going to the table with the GOP folks are set up and tossing a clothes pin on the table. Will say, “Ok, I did my part, you make sure your guy does his!”
with=where
And in the end they used you.
I wish you could say that to his face too, on national TV, live.
Will yo be the guy holding your breath and stomping your feet? Be sure to post a selfie!
These people NEVER tell us for whom they like. It is always who they don’t like.
No, I’m the guy smiling and giving the Ruling Class the single finger salute as I work to empower Conservatives instead of their Chamberpot Fascist Establishment cronies.
See, only juvenile Party Hacks consider the GOP to be our masters and parents. Some of us are free from the plantation mindset.
The GOP Ruling Class Establishment has not given us ANY reason to like them or their anointed candidates.
They have earned the loathing and contempt we have for them, and we know the feeling is mutual given they hate Conservatives more than the Democrats hate us.
Harry Reid thanks you.
If I can’t vote for Sarah or Cruz I’m going to stay home and pout/s
You think Ted Cruz is an establishment GOPer?
All your RINOs voted for cloture. He should be thanking you. The problem is you.
Yes or no?
Do you want the Republicans to gain the majority in the Senate?
McConnell seeks clean slate, plans to surrender power of the purse to Obama in Lame Duck
Stick to your guns.
These groups mentioned above: “several groups including Americans for Limited Government, Tea Party Patriots, and For America, a conservative 501 c 4 ...”.
These are the types of conservative groups Lerner’s IRS persecuted.
So there’s some irony there: “Hey, `pubs: wish we could do more, but the guys you applaud and award medals have, uh, really been busting our conservative b***s.”
Yeah, that Darrel Issa. He’s a real fireball. Retiring, and how many scalps on his lodge-pole?
Lots of dramatic House Oversight `counting coup’/kabuki, but scalps? Meh—nothing. He’s just another do-nothing GOP-e drone who has done nothing for conservatism. Obama, Holder, Lerner & Co. fear nothing from them.
But, hey, let’s make sure we go out and put them/return them to office ... Then a few months from now, we can go back to all the brave talk of `giving them the boot,’ and I suspect some of the ones here tonight urging us to crawl on our bellies to them will be some of the loudest.
Vote for conservatives! Why would you do anything else?
yes or no?
Do you support the lying about and denigration of conservative tea partiers in Mississippi?
(Straw man fallacies are ineffective against me)
What difference does it make?
Absolutely NONE according to what the Ruling Class GOP is telling us tonight.
