Democratic Senator Tom Harkin recently opined on the campaign of Republican Joni Ernst and made a comment that touched on her looks. He said, “I hear so much about Joni Ernst. She is really attractive, and she sounds nice. Well, I got to thinking about that. I don’t care if she’s as good looking as Taylor Swift or as nice as Mr. Rogers, but if she votes like Michele Bachmann, she’s wrong for the state of Iowa.”

Sure, if an R said them they’d be national news, but that’s still silly.
He’s her opponent, what’s he supposed to say?
Berke basically called Scott Walker a nazi, and that loser in SC called Nikki Haley a “whore”, those are things worth getting steamed about.

Harkin was just displaying the typical Democrat envy syndrome.
Joni has a real war record.
Harkin’s was fake.
He was in VN.
He was not a fighter pilot in combat as he inferred.

Harkin isn’t being sexist. Well, he is, but that’s not the point. He’s not really even attacking Ernst.
His comment goes to the heart of democrat thinking about voters. Voters are so stupid they’ll vote for a pretty face and he’s out here making the point that they shouldn’t do that.
Making it controversial just got the comment spread to it’s intended audience: low information voters.
Waking it back now just extends it for the last news cycle before voting. They are desperate to get LIVs to at least pause before voting intuitively.

Most democrats think that most voters can’t think beyond that politically. The whole “controversy is quite shrewd, they got their message out as earned media”.
Harkin is a has been and wanna be . . . .wanna be remembered as someone who made a difference. Not! He makes me tired just looking at him. . .and I ain’t no spring chicken myself.
