A California driver who police say struck and killed three teenage trick-or-treaters on Halloween before fleeing with his own children had recently pleaded guilty to a separate hit-and run, authorities said Monday.

It’s amazing what people need explanations for. I would think it’s pretty obvious.
Okay, the accident happened 6:45 PM PST, I said I’ll bet it was say, sunset time, someone else said it was dark then. I’m not out there. Then, one of the persons who knew the victims said where this happened had bad lighting, it was dark.
I’m wondering if the accused was high or drunk. Crazy thing to do.
I’ve seen references too that the poor little tykes were dressed in dark costumes. That’s not an excuse though I suppose one could be wearing a lot of black and if it were dark out, poor lighting. Just makes me think.
But I’m not saying excuses, I think I heard the driver may have been going 50 MPH, did not stop, no skid marks anywhere. Bam!
His priors are a lot of bad driving raps including I think destroying property with his careless driving. He probably didn’t even have a license and had gotten in trouble in August of this year.
If he borrowed the SUV, surely, the registered owner of the vehicle should face charges too.

They need to jail him until the three dead teens are fully recovered. Oh, and make sure to loudly announce what he did as he’s being released into gen pop.
Hello. Sunset here in OC was 4:56pm today. Adjusting for the time change, on Friday, it would have been at about 5:56pm.
Other reports indicated that the arrested perp is 31, and his 17 year old son was in the car. Doing the math (allowing for 9 months of pregnancy), he must have been about 13 when he impregnated the boy’s mom. In addition to previous charges for similar (non lethal) offenses, it would appear that Mr. Bell is unfamiliar with the concept of personal responsibility.
Now three kids are dead, and we CA taxpayers will be on the hook for $50k per year of incarceration.
Nothing personal, just blowing off some steam. Thanks.
Lots of Freepers claimed he would turn out to be an illegal. Nope, he appears to be a native-born criminal.
