“Take Your Best Shot”, Was The Marine Guarding The Canada National War Memorial Real?

Ottawa Canada – Since the terrorist attack in Canada that took the life of CPL. Nathan Cirillo, a guy in a Marine uniform sporting five Purple Hearts has been guarding the Canadian National War memorial. The below interview was done with him, and we began getting emails and wall posts from everyone wanting to know if he was really a Marine.

He goes by the name of Major “Fox” Sinke, and he stated, Courtesy of Global News:

“ “That’s how I see it. So I’m paying tribute to him, as best I can. We are not intimidated. Take your best shot.”

Sinke was wearing a Marine uniform as he marched around the National War Memorial.

“There are those of us who understand what’s happening and we’re not gonna lie down for it,” he said. “Not gonna happen. That’s basically why I’m here. I’m just here to make my own little personal damn statement.”

So we did some digging and reached out to our contacts to find out more about Major Sinke, and we can tell you that not only did this man serve as a Marine, he was a highly decorated Marine! He is taking a stand for what he believes is right, and yes he has five Purple Hearts. This man is a true American and Canadian Hero, we salute you Sir and the stand you are taking!!!

Below are his records: -excerpt-

Again, we salute Major Sinke for his stand at the National War Memorial in Canada, and for his service to both of our countries. Major Sinke has also authored several books detailing his experiences in the Vietnam War, one is titled When None Of Their Dreams Are Dead.

There are still Canadian Marine Officers. They might have trouble getting certain MOS’s due to clearance issues, but they are there.

As I remember, officers started wearing chicken droppings on their cap at the rank of bird colonel. Is this O-4 entitled to have it on his cap?

Yes, he is a field grade officer, a Major of Marines.

The clown in the AF uniform with the CIB is a fake. The look is because he got caught at it.

You have a better memory than mine. I have half of those minus the PH and I couldn’t tell you where most went. Of course I got some on the way out and never actually wore them. All but the jump wings. You never forget a minute of that!

LOL! Looks like an airmobile, recon, airborne, Green Beret, Navy SEAL sniper. A real chairmobile, PX raider.

What’s really sad here is that there are so many stories and pictures of phonies out there that when I see an old timer sporting a very colorful chest, my first instinct isn’t immediately one of admiration and respect, it’s one of suspicion and a desire not to be taken in by a fraud.

AFAIK, this man is the real deal. I retired as a MSgt out of the USMCR, and the uniform and the decorations look right. The supporting documents look right, and there are references to this man online as having written about his experiences during Vietnam.

If he’s out there in front of that memorial in uniform as a retired Marine, I’d say that is his lawful right to wear that uniform while engaged in what amounts to a military event in an allied nation. I also think he’d love to use that sword on any Islamic lunatic who attacked him.

It’s too bad that in this day and age of Marine Corps Commandants padding resumes (General Amos), we all feel we have to confirm that an old Marine doing something like this is what he claims to be.

Hell, I’m too pudgy to fit in my blues a decade after I got out, and if I ever get slim enough to wear them again I’d feel like I’d need to have my SRB handy to justify the modest awards I rate...and even if I could wear the uniform and provide the documentation, I’m pretty damn sure that I’d catch Hell for being “just a reservist” anyway, like that Canadian soldier the Jihadi killed at the memorial.

I think what the Major is doing is great. If it turns out he’s not what he says, it’ll be a shame, but unless that happens I’m not going to let the phonies cast a shadow on it.

Field grade is signified by the droppings and a major is field grade.Field grade is above a captain and below a brigadier general if I recall correctly. O-4 to O-6

I thought that only general officers in the Army and flag officers in the Navy were entitled to those enhancements.

Isn’t a field grade officer rank from 2nd Louie to Lt. Col?

Field grade for AF, Army, and USMC as signified by the laurel on the cover is O4 - O6.
USN is O5 & O6.

General and Flag Officers, O7+ wear a double band of laurel.

Lovingly referred to as scrambled eggs.

Just, like many of us, concerned and skeptical when we someone too far out front for our comfort zone.

I always look closely when I see stuff like this as well.

Glad to see someone out there legit for once.

I was a veteran’s rep. for most of my 15 years at the unemployment office. If I told you how many fake soldiers I ran into you’d cry.

Wonder if that band-aid has any correlation to his sword height?

I suspect he’s for real or the Knuck Gov’t wouldn’t let him parade around there.
