Polls close at 6 EST in the part of Kentucky which is in EST — a majority of the state’s population, including Louisville and Lexington. But no vote totals will be released before 7 EST, when polls in the rest of the state close.
If McConnell has opened a substantial lead in the EST part of the state, the nets will make the call shortly after 7.
