So Much for Ebola: U.S. Loses Interest in Virus as Cases Dwindle
Mediaite ^ | 11/4/2014 | by Evan McMurry

In the past ten days the U.S. has lost interest in the virus that recently dominated headlines and threatened to metastasize across the 2014 midterm election.

Less than two weeks ago the presence of a case in New York City augured to some the pivotal moment when the virus leapt from some Dallas hospital room to the dense urban jungle of Gotham, where it could not be controlled. Instead, Dr. Craig Spencer is now the only ebola patient in the United States, and the two Dallas health care workers who represent the sole cases of ebola transmission in the U.S. are both clear of the virus. With only one fatality out of nine cases in the U.S., the country has an ebola mortality rate of 11%, far below the global average of non-west African countries.

Sure enough Google Trends finds the interest in ebola declining beneath the levels preceding the virus’ stateside arrival. Interest initially surged after the CDC announced Thomas Eric Duncan had tested positive for ebola on September 30. Attention peaked on October 16 following the announcement that infected nurse Amber Vinson had flown from Cleveland to Dallas just before becoming symptomatic, a news cycle that coincided with heavy criticism of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital’s ebola protocols. Interest spiked one last time when Spencer tested positive.

Did I miss the announcement that they stopped all travelers from ebola stricken countries? That must have happened sometime ago if the cases have already started to “dwindle.” OTHERWISE, I am pretty sure we have been importing ebola every day since Duncan and the cases could only be increasing, unless somehow getting to America is itself a cure. /s

This is the listing someone sent to me yesterday. I know its accurate for Michigan but can’t speak for other states.

Don’t worry.

It will be back.

Wait until flu season hits. When you get a single case of Ebola, or three...combined with the general flu season you are going to have lots of panic.

This is akin to the phoney war of 1939-40. The fireworks are yet to come.

What is really happening is that the media is currently staying silent on the topic of Ebola, thanks to the dictates from the new Ebola czar. They are purposefully not talking about it.

Cases Dwindle ???

Are we sure?

Hey, if the Ebola Damage Control Czar says the cases have dwindled, it MUST be true. Right?

If a Republican were currently in the WH, then every hospital admission with a fever would be deemed as ‘ebola’ by the press, and they would be calling the administration incompetent.

I have no doubt that there are new cases out there that have been deliberately written up as ‘malaria’ or some such until AFTER the Midterms.

Watch for a spate of ‘new outbreaks’ next week.

FR's own ex-spurts are ready to declare Victory Over Ebola Day!

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

“I was holding off any opinion on the matter until 3 weeks after the Hajj ended. I fully anticipated to see massive infections worldwide within 1-2 weeks of Oct 8th because of the Hajj and so many from Africa would be going. ”

You might want to reconsider that premise. The Saudis banned West African pilgrims from attending the Hajj this year.

I know they did...but there were still MANY who made it.

The fact that it is starting to peak in Africa...and the transmission rates are <1 here...leads me to beleive it's not a threat. There are FAR more dangerous things coming across our southern border that I'm worried about. Ebola took the spotlight off of these (like D68)...and I wonder if that wasn't by design.

” With only one fatality out of nine cases in the U.S., the country has an ebola mortality rate of 11%, far below the global average of non-west African countries.”

To clarify, only two people contracted it IN the United States. They have a zero percent mortality rate.

No, the media control the narrative, and they have decided to stop giving us Ebola news, probably on orders of the Ebola czar.
