Many holding their noses as they cast ballots

It's only fitting:Check in with voters at Our Mother of Sorrows church in Louisville, Kentucky, to get a sense of the sour mood rippling across the country this Election Day.

Seventy-four-year-old Jim Brinley, casting his ballot for Republicans, thinks an over-reaching government is "ruining us" and wants to "get back to government as it should be."

Democrat Keisha Matlock, a 38-year-old college student, wonders aloud,"Why do we even vote?" as she casts her ballot for Democrats.

Matlock sees "constant griping back and forth about who's right. And, who's going to do this. And, who's going to do that in office. Sometimes, they say these things and they never do it when they get in there."

Yet there is hope mixed in with the voices of anger and cynicism.

Listen to Danielle Glover, 28, who voted in Commerce City, an industrial suburb northeast of Denver. She hopes Democrats can hold off a Republican takeover of the Senate. But whatever the results, she says, "I would hope that once we get past the election, that elected officials from both parties can sit down and work on policies together."

Listen to construction worker Rebecca Cziryak, who was out at dawn Tuesday to vote the Republican line in New Jersey, predicting it could mean more job sites in her future.

"Believe it or not, when the Republicans are in full force, I work more," says Cziryak, who voted at a community college in Gloucester Township, near Camden.

Listen to Kristi Johnson, a pharmacist who voted at a community college in Raleigh, N.C., also hoping Republicans retake the Senate.

Republicans, she says, could "help us iron out" problems with the president's health care law and other matters.

As for President Barack Obama, who's not on the ballot but still very much on the minds of many voters, Johnson says: "I'm just waiting for him to be gone."

Wow, just like clockwork.

Just as the GOP is poised for an electoral victory, the media comes out with stories about sour moods, and pleas for the parties to work together!

Don't seem to remember seeing those stories in 2008!

It’s a concept that’s a bit “off”.

Basically, the gov’t exists and grows through plunder of its citizens.

It maintains the facade of legitimacy by conducting elections which the plunderees participate in.

The facade of legitimacy would not exist if people didn’t participate.

The above concept is how most leftists justify gov’t policy - “well, we all voted on it, and you lost”.

I’m not saying “don’t vote”, just starting a discussion about the legitimacy of the gov’t as it exists today.

That “sour mood” also extends to the nation’s general disapproval of the liberal media. It has not done its job of holding politicians accountable. The media is a national disgrace.

Amen. When the treason trials happen I almost believe that Candy Crowley should be first in the docket.

Thanks for that clarification. I’m in a state with a tight senate race, so wild horses couldn’t have kept me from the poll. [God certainly could have, but didn’t.]

But I do see your point. A bit depressing, yet true. However, today is a day I hope to celebrate. The outcome won’t negate your point, but it should negate a few Dems. That’s worth something.

That’s why ABCCBSNBC aren’t covering the mid-terms. Cruz will be able to convert these STOP ZERO democrats and Indies into real conservatives over the next two years.

They must have internals showing an even bigger landslide than predicted, and must keep the sheep ignorant of what’s happening around them.

Agree. The corrupt and complicit main stream media is trying to ignor this embarassing defeat for liberalism and pretend it never happened. They’ll drop coverage of the election quicker than you can say the word “shellacking”.

"Believe it or not, when the Republicans are in full force, I work more," says Cziryak

Want to work...Republican.
Don't want to work...Democrat.

Same as it ever was.

I was thinking Animal House.

But who needs a trust fund when you have Uncle Sugar on your side?

Change the political labels and this could have been written 200 years ago.

I remember seeing a picture of a free giveaway plate with "Vote For Cicero" in Latin on it.

I bet there were flyers with "Cicero Et Pompeous Ass" somewhere as well.

““Sour?” How about “LIVID?!””

As my wife and I were pulling out of the parking lot at the polling place, she said “You seem angry.”

All I could say was “I am.”.

Thinking back about it, I think a lot of the anger came from my knowing that I’d just been in a room with people that had stabbed me, my family and this country in the back.

Like in Animal Farm, the sheep have been taught against their will what Socialism is. THAT’s what will kill the progressives.
