How Hillary Clinton won the 2014 midterms (desperate media spin alert)
Yahoo News ^ | 11/5/2014 | Andrew Romano

The GOP had a good night. But the map, the math and the reality of Washington dysfunction favor the presumptive Democratic nominee in 2016.

But here’s the thing: In politics, the easy answer isn’t always the only answer, and the winner of an election isn’t always the one who benefits most. Take a closer look at demography, geography and the road ahead for the parties, and it’s clear that the long-term winner of the 2014 midterms wasn’t the GOP at all. The long-term winner, in fact, wasn’t even on the ballot this year.

Her name is Hillary Clinton.

Of course the GOP is celebrating right now, as it should. Any election that ends up putting Republicans into the governors’ mansions in Illinois and Maryland is worth getting worked up about. But under the surface, almost everything about last night’s midterm results — and the map, the math and the legislative morass that lies ahead in the run-up to 2016 — suggests that the former first lady and secretary of state will have a better next two years than the party currently guzzling champagne.

More of the same — more gridlock, more obstructionism, more kneejerk opposition — won't cut it; voters expect the newly empowered GOP to work with Obama and govern.

A real reporter would let the facts drive the conclusion. A hack reporter starts with a conclusion and cherry picks facts which back it up.

What type of reporter do you think this guy is?

I'm curious how Hillary's health will hold up to two more years of campaigning, and if anyone else sensing blood in the water tries to make it difficult for her.

Basically, old wisdom still holding, the front-runner this far out doesn't usually do so well.

Also, the D.C. Press has been under so much criticism that they will unload on the next candidate... and esp her.

Complete rubbish. Everything Obama has been doing doesn't work and voters want that stopped. They've had enough.

The liberal media is already spinning Shellacking #2 as a product of Republican negativity against Obama. They'll never accept the fact that liberal policies and governance are not working. You can always count on liberals to blame someone or something else for their own failures.

Exactly. How did things work out for the many candidates they stumped for? Not so great. But Yahoo ignores reality and happily spins this as a win for Hillary. Amazing.

Hillary just doesn’t ‘wear well.’ After a few months of her face and voice forever on the news, the American public just won’t be able to take it any more.

I agree with the headline of this article... hear me out. First off, Hillary Clinton did not/does not give a damn about any of these candidates... their wins or losses are completely irrelevant. She cares about HERSELF.

She racked up a lot of visibility among democrats in key states, and made any other candidate's climb to the democratic nomination much, much steeper.

One exit poll I watch last night was about potential 2016 nominees. Democratic voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina overwhelmingly support her for the nominee.

She wins Iowa Caucus and early primaries convincingly... and that race is about over. Having her nomination secured very early is a big advantage over the Republicans who are likely to battle among themselves much longer.

Now, if they’ll just cast her as a duck.

Heck, I might even set the DVR to record...

The almost assured nomination of Romney or Bush in 2016 guarantees that whoever the Democrats run will win and probably bring them back the Senate and maybe the House.

“Mitch McConnell isn’t.”

Wait until after the weekend. I think everyone wants to enjoy their victory and give Obama enough time to stop his tantrums.

If it was me, the first thing out of my mouth once we had the senate would have been, “I fully expect for the benefit of the country that Obama signs off on Keystone before out meeting on Friday.”

Bill & Hillary campaigned for democrats in multiple states. I’d say they got a huge smackdown!

Take a closer look at demography amnesty, geography and the road ahead for the parties,

Democrats control the bureaucracy. This is what Republican governors MUST fix. It is the long hard slog that really counts.

If all the Democrats have for 2016 is the shopworn Hillary Clinton (and it looks like that’s it), they are toast again. Republicans have a good stable of legitimate and qualified candidates, particularly successful governors.
That’s the thing . . . as attractive as I find Ted Cruz, adults should be scouting for a Republican governor who can win in purple territory. Those people aren’t necessarily Tea Party types, tho. So the question is whether there is a Scott Walker or a John Kascich with whose incorrect stances we can agree to disagree. Even Sarah Palin has her downside, after all.

But when you look at the history, senators don’t beat presidents or governors very often. So if the dems nominate Hillary, we should nominate Scott Walker or some other governor - and take our chances. Of course, de facto if not de jure, Hillary was sort of POTUS after the Lewinski affair blew up on Bill. But to that extent, she doesn’t deserve to have a third term.
