Fmr. Israeli NSC Chief: You Can’t Stop Someone Who Decides to Ram a Car Into Civilians (VIDEO)

Car terror ad

Former Israeli National Security Council chief, Maj.-Gen. (res) Ya’akov Amidror, argued that the only action that can deter “car-bourne” terrorists is taking punitive measures against their families, Israel’s NRG News reported Thursday.

Four people have died – one an infant – and some 30 civilians and soldiers have been wounded in attacks over the past two weeks by Palestinian Hamas and Islamic Jihad-affiliated terrorists, who mowed down pedestrians along the tracks and platforms of Jerusalem’s light rail system.

Both terrorists were shot and killed by Border Police officers at the scene.

“Even ISIS can’t be stopped in a day,” Amidror said, calling the fight against nationalistic violence in Jerusalem a long and protracted battle.

Two vehicular attacks that took place Wednesday, and two weeks ago, expose the great difficulties facing security forces trying to overcome the wave of unrest and violence in the capital, he contended.

“I cannot stop a lone terrorist who runs out in the morning, grabs the car keys and goes running people down,” Amidror said.

Now a lecturer at the Begin-Sadat Center at Bar-Ilan University, Amidror said that, under the present policies, and in accordance with the legal restrictions imposed on the Israeli security forces, the odds for eradicating similar car attacks were low.

“The guy has already made up his mind, and is working on his own – so what can we do? We can place concrete barriers at bus stops, but then the perpetrator will jump the curb and hit people that way.

“So long as he did not plan it with others, we can’t stop it,” he said.

“While it’s true that if there is a ‘different atmosphere’ then the lone terrorist may not be tempted to act, but the atmosphere among Jerusalem’s Arabs is not dependent on us,” he said.

However, he added, “By punishing the terrorists’ families, some will be deterred. The terrorist who knows with certainty that his family will suffer will think twice before committing the deed.”

But, Amidror concluded, taking such steps would require legislative changes that Israel is either unable or unwilling to consider.

You Can’t Stop Someone Who Decides to Ram a Car Into Civilians

Speed bumps at well chosen places may reduce casualties.

Not giving Muslims drivers licenses would stop them or allowing Muslims to register cars and prosecuting for murder anyone who loaned them a car.

Just declare as haram all sorts of modern technology that The Mad Ham Mo’ didn’t have back in the day ; e.g. motor vehicles, airplanes, oil derivatives, radios, computers, RPGs, AK-47s, IEDs, etc.

By punishing the terrorists’ families, some will be deterred.

This would be a gross injustice in our individualistic society. In a family and tribal based society like the Arabs', not so much.

Yeah, go after their families, for sure. They're going after other peoples loved ones after all, it's an eye for an eye.

But I think that solution overlooks the disparities between the value of lives that seems to have been well established in prisoner swaps with the "palestinians", where one Israeli hostage is traded for a couple hundred terrorists.

So, aside from the natural discomfort the Israelis may have about using a tactic that was used against them in the Holocaust, why not establish a system of military reprisals, where for every Israeli killed by a "palestinian", they execute a couple hundred terrorist prisoners?

Pretty much the same theory as that making guns illegal will prevent crimes.

Cars are pretty darn easy to steal, or carjack for that matter.

I’ve often wondered why this method of attack on civilians wasn’t used in the past. There is literally less than a second between the start of the attack and the first casualty. With no realistic way to have any warning in most cases.

Very easy to bring here, too.

He is correct, but as far as punishment goes, Israel should institute a permanent deportation policy for any Paleo family with a member who has committed a terrorist act.

And it is just as important where they are deported as much as that they are deported. Probably the best policy would be to deport them to South Sudan, while paying the South Sudanese government a stipend “to take care of them.”

South Sudan split off from North Sudan, in a very bitter war, with the Muslims up North and the Christians and Animists in the South. So the South Sudanese are under no illusions about Muslims.

The government of South Sudan is very poor and welcomes most any money. However they detest Muslims, so likely they would kick these Paleos across the border into North Sudan. But this is not Israel’s problem. And it also gives them an opportunity to send some aid money to their ally South Sudan.

The family of any moslem terrorist should be wiped out. If a moslem commits an act of terrorism he has demonstarted that his family is already infected with the jihadist mindset and must be eradicated

Better yet, pre-emptive measures against the Arab squatters, namely, confiscating their vehicles.
