“How about a bill moving Election Day to April 15th?”

And you must present a copy of the check you just sent to the IRS.

You will have to give me more than one word to understand your question.

How about a bill moving Election Day to April 15th?

How about the Saturday before April 15th?

You nailed it!

I hate those "Get Out The Vote" campaigns.

If you have neither the motivation or knowledge to get yourself to the polls and cast an informed vote, I don't want you in the booth!

Outlaw early voting AND keep election day a non-holiday AND repeal “motor-voter” AND require positive, verified, photographic identification to vote AND purge the voter rolls of illicit registrations.

I OPPOSE efforts to expand the number of people voting. Voting should require a bit of effort.

WHAT YOU SAID! The only thing I would add is to make April 15 election day, while the pain is fresh.

Outlaw early voting...Voting should require a bit of effort.

You would eliminate too many that work for a living. Folks that jobs are not simple 9-5 and always in the same location should not lose their right to vote.

“Increase efforts towards a two-week period of early voting is a better idea.”

Just couldn’t believe you were serious about this. We should be discouraging it altogether, not “increasing efforts. “

OK. As long as Voter ID is mandatory along with prison for vote fraud.

Look it’s real simple if you want a bigger turnout then do what the Europeans do vote on the weekends. I think most countries in Europe vote on a Sunday. So you could have election day on either Saturday or Sunday and not have it during the week. While your at it outlaw early voting except for absentee ballots.

When I worked on one side of Houston and lived and voted on the other side, I managed to vote on election day.

I never have liked the idea that ignorant and apathetic people are encouraged to vote!

Politicians can’t stand the fact that what they do and who they are doesn’t matter to millions of people. Those people express their disinterest by disenfranchising themselves, and most of them already take election days off.

Used to be many more polls inside schools, with schools in session.

Our still are.

There are very few people who are too busy working to vote. Voting is generally open until 8 pm. Bigwigs can take any time off to vote that they want, and employees are given time to go vote (arriving late, leaving early) on Election Day. Plus there are so many ways to vote early. A holiday will mean less people will stick around to vote.

We need voter ID.

I’ve never understood why getting to the polling place on election day was such a burden.

I assume you've never been responsible to fix something when it blew up in the plant. Or given a 2 day notice to spend 10 weeks working in another state to help fix construction problems in the field.

Or been a surgeon, offshore drill rig operator, or one of many jobs that have significant and changing time commitments beyond 9-5.
