A man in the US has voluntarily been injected with the Ebola virus as part of a clinical trial to develop a vaccine against the deadly disease.
Peter Hubbard revealed he was taking a small risk with his own life in the hope it will minimise the impact of future outbreaks of the disease.
The 35-year-old market consultant is one of 20 people taking part in the clinical trial being run by the US National Institutes of Health and the pharmaceutical corporation GlaxoSmithKlien.
Itis the fifth vaccine trial Mr Hubbard has participated in, having previously tested HIV, malaria, H1N1 (swine flu) and the chikungunya virus.
"I do have a joke that, that with all of these vaccine trials that I've done, that if plague and pestilence were to sweep throughout the land, I'd be the last man standing," Mr Hubbard said, adding he was not afraid of the current Ebola outbreak because he understands there is a "very low risk" of infection.

I don’t know if this is true. Somehow, I’m not sure this protocol would be approved by the IRB. It just doesn’t sound right to me.
But who knows - maybe it is true.
If it is, I wonder if he’ll be quarantined or just roam about the country like everyone else with ebola does?

Imagine his shock if he found out that he was in the control group.
That’s part of the test.... he’s going to Disneyworld.
He lived, so all assume he choose well. He didn't seem to have all of his oars in the water, however.
He was another brave man.
How much sweat did he fling onto or bump into other runners? How many water bottles did he toss along the roadway for someone to pick up or an animal to drink? Bet the marathon was encouraged by the CDC and obola.
