my name is not Illegal Pete, but it is close.
I am reminiscing about the civil disobedience activity of the past year engaged in by various CT Catholics.
1. Robert distributed materials in Church A about assisted suicide bill in Hartford ... Pastor wanted to have nothing to do with the issue. So it was done without his permission. Pastor complained to diocese and numerous voice mails and phone calls were placed to Robert by diocesan official with threatening tone and great alarm.
2. CJ distributed non-partisan materials on 8 windshields at daily Mass at Church B ... GOTV flyers reminding people of the upcoming special election. Vile voice mails left by the lefty Marxist pastor for CJ.
3. I suppose at some point, somebody will do this on a grander scale, rather than a few churches. If CT parishes are insulated from the pro-life message and election involvement (the type of things that are normal in other states) .... is it required to respect that ... or should these Marxist parishes be subjected to such terrorist activity ( such as having their windshields plastered with dissident propaganda) ?
4. Consider: the Diocese gives an annual grant of $250,000 to a Unitarian community organizing group that has defeated 3 Republican incumbent pro-life legislators and replaced them with NARAL, pro-gay Democrats. They won an election last week 51% to 49%. The director of the group is on the payroll of the Diocese.
5. The Catholics and Baptists in Town C just re-elected their Republican Hindu state Rep. who is a leading proponent of Assisted Suicide. You know the Baptists and Catholics are voting for the Republican. It is one thing for such a town to be represented by a crazy rep and do nothing about it. It is another thing, entirely, for him to be re-elected with the votes of Republican church-goers.
A. Some here have decided the best response is to write the state off.
B. Others say to fight back very politely and diplomatically and be patient with people. That if Unitarians and Congregationalists have a right to be pro-gay and pro-abort and to be “left in peace” ... why not leave the lefty Catholicks in “peace”?
C. Others advocate scorched earth. Continue to terrorize them with ink and paper on a grander scale ... relentlessly! (just be sure we have an attorney lined up)
Any input?
What would God tell you to do about fighting evil ?
I don’t know squat about churches.
I was just in an Episcopal church for the first time ever (memorial service/funeral) and the Reverend and some others walked to the center of the aisle to read a particular prayer thing and then went back to the pulpit or whatever you call it, I found it weird. They also left the doors open during the thing, I was cold.
I just said a prayer.
Hope you have a conservative bishop who would be willing to help.
