The white supremacist organisation, 'Ku Klux Klan', infamous for racism and violence, is reportedly rebranding itself and opening its doors – quite surprisingly – to other members of the society such as Jews, Blacks, Hispanics and gays.

The move reportedly comes after John Abarr, a KKK member from Great Falls in Montana, had a discussion with the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NCAAP), although it is not exactly clear what they talked about.
Abarr is a now a reformed man and has started a new group called 'The Rocky Mountain Knights'. Although he hasn't specified how many members the organisation has, he was cited as saying by Georgian TV channel WMAZ that the rebranded outfit will not discriminate against people on the basis of race, religion or sexual orientation.
"The KKK is for a strong America," Abbar said, according to the TV channel.

The Klan openly supported Woodrow Wilson, and he rewarded them by re-segregating the Federal government. At the state level, the Klan-Democrat coalition created the Jim Crow regime. The Klan were also big supporters of Prohibition.
I suppose that, like other Democrat institutions, the Klan just wants to make its membership look more like America.
If it’s true, why not? ACORN rebranded and still manages to tap the Obama/Jarrett trough under different names.

In the 1920s when the Klan hit its height of power and popularity, the KKK was completely intertwined with the Republican Party in Indiana. The State government there was virtually controlled by D.C. Stephenson, the head of the Klan there between about 1924 and 1925.
This was a time when the KKK, at least under Stephenson, was trying to re-brand as a fraternal group protecting “true Americanism.” Under that idea Catholics, Jews, and non whites were the targets. Since there were few blacks in Indiana then there wasn’t much concern about the old Klan that went after former slaves as had been done in the South.
Other parts of the Klan, run by Imperial Wizard Hiram Evans, were more traditional in terms of race relations.
Of course Stephenson had previously run for office as a Democrat, so your main point is of course correct. The KKK has been made up of Democrats during about 95% of its existence.
If the group adopted a stance drawn from the “nativist” views of the 1920s, theoretically blacks and Jews could become part of the Klan. The targets would be Catholics, sine they would be viewed as owing allegiance to Rome, socialists, atheists, etc.
If the KKK includes blacks, then how can it be a white supremacist organization? What would its purpose be? Shouldn’t the KKK just close shop?
Good call. Other than allowing Jewish members, this is right out of the Nazi playbook. The Nazis (especially the SA) was were full of deviant homosexual predators.
Now they just call themselves “Democrats”.
