Israel says it’s “ready and willing” to share with India its technology for border protection

NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, accompanied by Israel National Security Advisor Joseph Cohen, had a first-hand look on Thursday how Israel guards its border with Palestine on the Gaza strip and officials said India plans to implement some of these technologies to guard its sensitive border with Pakistan.

Singh visited one of the border out-posts in Gaza before meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for an hour-long meeting on Thursday where Netanyahu said Israel was "ready and willing" to share with India its technology for border protection.

An official said Singh was "greatly impressed" by the technology used in the highly-sophisticated border security system of Israel which includes high-quality long-range day cameras along with night observation systems employing third generation thermal imagers. This is backed up by land surveillance through patrols and detection radars, with the latter able to detect any movement across the border for several kilometers, Singh was told.

The Fence is also fitted with electronic touch and motion sensors as well as underground sensors which use seismic systems to detect any tunneling attempts below the fence for intrusion, the Indian Home Minister was briefed by the Israeli NSA.

Singh was told that in certain "dark areas" where fencing was not possible, like on India-Pakistan border as well, Israel had used small UAV's for the security coverage. Plus, every border post on the Israel border is a self-sufficient unit.

Why would India give any secret technology to the Chinese?

Anytime one lets out its secrets to anyone else to use, the security in the technology is gone. Alliances are never forever and most often the shelf life of any will expire much sooner than expected and at the most inopportune time.

The US has supplanted China for influence in world affairs to the extent that politics and economics play a role on the national level. China armed Pakistan and India has problems on all its borders simply because China wants it that way.

I’m sure as soon as Obama hears about building a truly effective fence, he’ll have it installed along our southern border.

The Chinese will far more easily obtain Israeli tech directly from the source. I vividly remember waiting in a taxi queue at the Beijing Sheraton Hotel behind a western looking gentleman holding an Israel Military Industries folder in his hands. That was back in 2002. The IMI is ready, willing, and able to sell to China.

The Indians and Chinese, on the other hand, are not exactly on friendly terms. They have been close to border wars on several occasions and as China's military modernizes and they become more regionally aggressive relations will only become more tense.

The Soviet Union, and more recently the Russian Federation and to a lesser extent the USA and Western Europe, have been India's sources for imported weaponry. Now the US, after the tremendous progress in relations under Bush, is justifiably seen as an unreliable and largely useless partner. So Israel, with some of the most advanced home grown military and electronics technology, will find a ready market in a country that at worst has no anti-Zionist axe to grind and is in fact facing a major Islamic threat of its own.

The Israeli border fence is very obvious and uncomplicated. We could easily copy it. The only problem is the open borders traitors in DC who never implement border fences that Congress passes laws mandating such as in 2007.

That pos Senator Kay Baily Hutchinson did a lot of sabotage on building border fences in Texas

There already exists a fence stretching 1000's of miles on both sides of the Indian border - with Pakistan & Bangladesh. The Indian fence with Pakistan is so brightly lit up that it can actually be seen from outer space marking the only man made border that can be seen from there. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2033886/India-Pakistan-border-visible-space.html
