McCain Assures Incoming GOP Senators Won’t Be More Ted Cruz Types
Mediaite ^ | Nov. 11, 2014 | Josh Feldman

Posted on 11/11/2014 1:25:12 PM PST by PROCON

Senators John McCain and Ted Cruz don’t exactly have the best relationship. Cruz has said Republicans like McCain are why their party doesn’t do better, and McCain has not been shy about publicly dumping on Cruz, especially during last year’s government shutdown.

And in a new interview with Salon today, McCain wanted to make it clear that the incoming crop of Republicans that will give their party control of the Senate will not be Cruzes. McCain even claimed that a lot of the GOP Senate candidates who won are in the same mold as himself and Lindsey Graham.

Please provide the names of those senators Senator McCain so that we can all know who they are and give them a very warm (blistering) welcome.

Amen, retire Senator McCain.

I wish more of our elected officials were like Ted Cruz.

McCain’s really going to be a problem going into ‘16. He’s that annoying douchebag that the media points to when they want to validate Democrat stances, and he gives them no shortage of ammunition to use against principled conservatives.

A self admission that McCain is nothing special.

McQueeg is senile. He doesn't speak for the GOP or even the gOpE.

I will let the incoming Freshman speak for themselves rather than letting some 'maverick' hack speak for them:

Sullivan (AK); Cotton (AR); Gardner (CO); Perdue (GA); Ernst (IA); Cassidy (LA); Daines (MT); Sasse (NE); Tillis (NC); Rounds (SD) and Capito (WV).

The voters who put them in office expect them to act more like Ted Cruz than Johnny McQueeg.

I still wish there was an alternative conservative party we could go to.

Constitution party?
Heck, the Libertarian Party nominated a more Conservative candidate than the Republican party did for 2012. (Johnson vs Romney)
The thing is, the Republican party is on very, very thin ice insofar as their base (and, IME the general population) is concerned — over the past few years they've been very ineffectual and w/o any vision distinguishing them from the Democrats. If they do nothing to differentiate themselves from the Democrats between now and 2016 — well, I don't think we'll see a Republican party for 2020.

If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.

Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!

Oh, he absolutely relished the ‘Maverick’ role that the libs dangled in front of him in the years prior to his 2008 run. He was willing to ‘cross the aisle’ and ‘work together to get things done’. History will repeat itself I fear.

Problem is, we've been hearing that line since 2008. Yet, when it comes time for all these holier-than-thou type conservatives to make the jump, they won't do it. Until they are ready to do so, they need to shut up and figure out how to "save" the GOP. If they can't, then drop it and make the plunge. Stop just telling us about it.

I think the jury’s out on whether any of his service was really beneficial to the Republic.

We need to build one. That’s the 500 pound gorilla in the room.

If everyone who excoriates conservatives on this board by saying “I’m a conservative, BUT...” would help, it would be a start.

I of course meant his Navy service, he hasn't benefitted the nation as a Senator lately.

I know what you meant, but there are contradictory reports about that - his ability as a pilot, whether or not he was the hero in Hanoi he claims, etc.

Based on his gutless behavior as a Senator, I’d have to say some doubt about his carefully crafted personal history is not out of place. I just don’t see someone being a hero in war and yet having a very spineless 40 year career right after that. Just doesn’t add up.
