The nations Catholic bishops are jumping into the increasingly contentious battle over immigration reform by backing President Barack Obamas pledge to act on his own to fix what one bishop called "this broken and immoral system" before Republicans assume control of Capitol Hill in January.
In an unscheduled address Tuesday at the hierarchys annual meeting, Seattle Auxiliary Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, chairman of the migration committee of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said the USCCB would continue to work with both parties to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
But, Elizondo said, given the urgency of the immigration crisis and the electoral gains by Republicans who have thwarted earlier reform efforts, "it would be derelict not to support administrative actions
which would provide immigrants and their families legal protection.

Good point. Seems I recall they showed a few Hispanic catholic leaders from the left coast.
Thank you for your fine input.
I would tend to agree with that.
That photo has all the imagery you need to reinforce my point: the "Catholic" cardinal archbishop of New York and the radical secular (nominally Jewish) leftist Senator from New York at a P.R. event for some kind of leftist cause -- with the Statue of Liberty in the background.
Make no mistake about it ... that goofball on the right is a representative of a government-sponsored "church."
“given the urgency of the immigration crisis and the electoral gains by Republicans” - POLITICAL...ILLEGAL !!!!
Immigration into this country is not a moral issue, it is a national security issue.

I live in southern AZ. I’ve gone to Mass all over this huge diocese. The least attended churches are in the largely hispanic areas. The ones with the most attendance are in upper middle class areas with the super-majority being white and senior.
I think just think the Catholic church is an arm of La Raza. There are activist churches with Catholic schools that have activist leadership. You can see church grounds dedicated to border crossers and get flyers on protesting the government for ill treatment of illegals when they are caught.
It makes me very angry. The diocese paper makes much of leaving water in the desert to lure them in and giving their youngster all the financial help they can.
Ok.
Just guessing
Denial
Parsing
Claiming bishops aren’t catholic really
Baptists are worse
Etc
Just face it.....your hierarchy wants more parishioners at the cost of our freedom and national complexion
But they’ll couch it with compassion
