By now we're familiar with some of the scarier potential impacts of climate change: Floods, fires, stronger hurricanes, violent conflicts. Well, here's a new one to add to your nightmares. Lightning strikes in the continental United States will increase roughly 12 percent for every degree Celsius of global warming, a study published today in Science finds. If warming continues unchecked, that could translate into a 50 percent increase in lightning by the end of the century—three strikes then for every two strikes now. (On average, there are currently about 25 million strikes per year.)

So, that must mean the ozone hole at the poles, about which we have heard nothing for years, will close up, since lightening creates ozone?
By the way, did banning CFC’s ever stop the growth of the ozone hole, or did we just stop hearing about it to imply that it worked?

My wife’s memory, which is better than mine (just ask her), made the same comment after hearing this latest Science Fiction on a local tv news channel last night.
She said that it seemed to her, that we have had a lot less lightening this past decade in wino country.
So you must be correct as my wife is all ways correct.:)

There has been NO warming for 18 years. That is a scientific fact. Sounds like global warming has been “checked” to me.
