Never before has it been so easy to turn an idea into a business. With a simple Internet connection, some ingenuity and a lot of hard work, anyone today can create a new service or app or start selling products nationwide. . . . . .
Yet the threats from Washington to stifle freedom, entrepreneurship and creativity online have never been greater. Washington politicians want the money, and they want more and more control over our speech.
Four basic principles should guide policymakers, in a bipartisan manner, to preserve Americas leadership role in developing the future of the Internet.
. . . . .
Second, we should dismiss all plans to give nations hostile to human rights and democracy more influence over Internet policy.
This year, the Obama administration took steps to end its contract with ICANN, a California nonprofit organization that manages basic Internet functions, including the creation of Web addresses and domain names. Once this contract expires, ICANN will be governed by a global, multi-stakeholder community that could grant nations such as Iran, Russia and China more authority over the rules and regulations that govern the Internet.
The likes of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Irans Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Chinese President Xi Jinping should not dictate what can be read, written, distributed, bought and sold on the Internet. Countries that do not give their own people the right to speak freely deserve no say in what Americans can say and do on the Internet.
. . . .
In short, net neutrality is Obamacare for the Internet. It would put the government in charge of determining Internet pricing, terms of service and what types of products and services can be delivered, leading to fewer choices, fewer opportunities and higher prices.

The gov’t will totally mess up the internet the way they dissembled Ma Bell since that worked out so swell.
Not only will the Feds mess it up, they will decide the flow of information that appears on the Internet and stifle any dissenters that don’t agree with their opinions. They will also increase the cost and have a helluva track record on many other things they’ve screwed up that they thought they could do better than private companies...
Maybe it’ll go underground?
Oh, you can bet on that!
If you like your internet, you can keep your internet!
Sounds like someone wants to eliminate Competition.
This has been posted a million times already.
It all sounds good but I wish Ted had something to counter the problems associated with the tiered internet speed plans...
We HAVE to start calling, emailing, tweeting whatever to stop this. Obama is relentless in his quest to control the Internet. I personally spent days posting on message boards when O tried to just give it away. People didn’t know the full impact of that move until we told them.
Obama keeps going for it and will continue until we either stop fighting him or he runs out of time. The more times he attempts it, the weaker the resistance. Like suffocating the life out of someone, first the kicks and efforts to get free, then it slows down, and finally resistance ceases altogether. So it is harder to rally active resistance with each new ploy.
Write, call, go on-line and tweet or post but we have to stop this maniac.
Actually without NN, leftist companies like Time Warner will be free to block sites like FR.
Such is the free market. Companies not owned by communists will have the freedom to block MSNBC, Daily Kos, CNN, PBS and other purveyors of lies. Because of the meddling of the FCC, my cable TV forces the liberal propaganda of PBS, MSNBC, CNN and BET on me. Without the central government's interference, I'd have my preference of only Fox and RFD to watch on the television.
The policies of the hussein regime must be stopped! Go Ted go!
Without NN the Net will become just like Cable is now. Comcast for these sites, Time Warner for these sites...
