Missouri Gov. Jay Nixons decision to activate his states National Guard is being welcomed by some in the St. Louis area as a wise precaution for public safety, but others warn will only antagonize already fragile race relations.
The sharply divided responses follow Governor Nixons announcement of the National Guard callup Monday, a move tied to a grand jury decision, expected in the next two weeks, that could touch off a new round of protests in Ferguson, Mo.
The grand jury is weighing whether to indict police officer Darren Wilson on charges related to his fatal shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, in the St. Louis suburb on Aug. 9.
Ferguson has been rocked by demonstrations against what protesters say was an unprovoked and tragic death. The FBI issued a bulletin warning of that violence by some extremist protesters could follow the grand jury announcement.
Some leaders in St. Louis voice worries that the Guard callup will backfire.
St. Louis Alderman Antonio French said in a Twitter update Tuesday:
"It's hard to keep people calm when officials use phrases like "state of emergency", "precipice of pandemonium" & urge stocking up on water."

On Monday, he said that military presence in my city will mark a historic failure on the part of government.

Obama has DHS agents in Ferguson; pays protesters to justify martial law
No the blacks saying they will riot, and kill whitey, and go nuts, are what’s going to “antagonize” already “fragile race relations”.
HS is there Supposedly to protect Federal bldgs, GSA properties and employees. But I dont trust them anymore than I do Owebama.

Only if their Rules of Engagement use the admonition, "Shoot to Kill!".
It’s pretty clear these people are planning to commit some big time violence and they are already trying to set things up to blame it all on the police.
Yeah, you’re wrong. Like most places, the suburban and rural folks make up the Guard for the most part. The “population make up of that state”? Missouri actually has a below average population of blacks if that is what you mean. Yes, they damn near all live in St. Louis, KC, and Columbia. See link for Census results:

Let me also say that the suburbs in those metro areas have a LOT of good, hard working black folk. I spent a couple of days on the ground in Ferguson during the first go round and almost everyone made a point to thank us and made clear their displeasure with the thugs and outside agitators.
The Madistan Ruling Elite are mad as hell, but they’re laying low and plotting.
The Mayor of Madistan, as well as the County Board, are starting in already with the Death of a Thousand Cuts against the citizenry. They just raised Dane County Taxes by nearly $50 a head and are meeting tonight to BAN e-cigarettes, as they’ve successfully banned regular cigs just about everywhere. Except for the Cigar Bar they all go to, of course! Hypocrites.
The Libtards will sit and take it; most sane people have moved out of the county or are (like me) planning on it in the near future.
And, we have a new Capitol Police Chief. The guy kicks ass and takes names. I’m not expecting the Rent-a-Thugs back in the near future. Chickenshits, LOL!
Thanks. That’s why I asked! :)
Glad to help! I was not sure of the exact percentage, so I benefited as well!
Historically the National Guard tended to be whiter than the overall demographic. Don't know about now.
