Sen. Coburn Fears 'Anarchy' & 'Violence' After Obama Exec Amnesty

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) is concerned that President Barack Obama's forthcoming executive amnesty may lead to anarchy and violence.

"The country's going to go nuts, because they're going to see it as a move outside the authority of the president, and it's going to be a very serious situation," Coburn told USA Today on Wednesday. "You're going to see — hopefully not — but you could see instances of anarchy. ... You could see violence."

Coburn added that Obama, who will make a Thursday evening announcement on his executive amnesty, will be acting like "an autocratic leader that's going to disregard what the Constitution says and make law anyway."

"Instead of having the rule of law handling in our country today, now we're starting to have the rule of rulers, and that's the total antithesis of what this country was founded on," Coburn says. "Here's how people think: Well, if the law doesn't apply to the president ... then why should it apply to me?"

Coburn, who is retiring after this Congress, said in August of 2013 that Obama was "perilously close" to impeachment with his lawlessness.

Why should we respect the rule of law when the nation's top law enforcement official does not?

Impeach now and let us deal with the consequences.

I am so sick of this petty little POS tyrant.

The really proper way to deal with a lawless President..who gives a finger to Congress and the voters..is to impeach. All the bluster about cutting off funds..or suing is meaningless. It won’t happen. If the situation is that serious, and I think it is, than the Constitutional resolution is impeachment. And if they are worried about Joe Biden..well tell him that his impeachment will be next unless he undoes the PD’s.
I once lived in a country that was run by Presidential Decrees..almost daily..the President was Marcos and it did not end well.

What a wonderful world the Democrats live in. They get to pick and choose which laws they obey. Wish I lived in a world like that. The Democrats sure wouldn’t like it then.

sounds like Obama is trying to incite a race war by timing amnesty with the Ferguson decision

The message to low-information blacks will be that "he's got their back". The reality is that a lot of US citizens are catching on and realizing they're being replaced by hispanics. Ferguson will divert their attention from what Obama is doing to them.

What doesn't seem to be part of the calculus is any assumption that law-abiding US citizens or our elected reps will actually do anything.

Close. No cigar.

The really proper way to deal with a lawless President...who gives a finger to Congress and the voters...is to impeach, indict, convict, and HANG!

Had you ever doubted he was capable of such... of course not, we saw this 6 years ago. The man will have to be arrested and drug out... may our military see him as the threat he is and have the patriotism to truley protect the constitution.

Here’s another way to do it:

Congress Suit Against Obama’s Immigration Executive Order For Violation of Separation of Powers

POWERS

1. Obama will claim that he has absolute executive power to pardon. This is true. A president’s pardon power is absolute.

2. Obama will claim he has prosecutorial discretion in the enforcement of the laws. This is generally true in terms of how an executive prioritizes the allocation of resources. However, it is a matter of degree. The wholesale suspension of the laws in a given area is a different matter. This was a power exercised by medieval kings, and Obama himself has stated he is no “emperor” is annulling the enforcement of laws by a stroke of the pen. The nature and degree of the executive order does matter here.

3. The grant of special rights and privileges, that Congress has not afforded illegal aliens, is a completely different matter. To use executive authority to bestow working documents etc., is a matter that under the enumerated powers of Art I, Section 8 Cl. 4 belongs exclusively to Congress

NOTE: Kliendienst v. Mandel 408 U.S. 753(1972): “over no conceivable subject is the legislative power of Congress more complete that it is over the admission of aliens.”

STANDING

4. The Court in Raines v. Byrd 521 U.S. 811 (1997) held that Two U.S. Senators and for members of the House did not have standing to have the Line Item Veto law declared unconstitutional. In doing so that Court distinguished Coleman v. Miller 307 U.S. 433, (1939) where the Court allowed Kansas state legislators to sue to challenge the participation of the state Lieutenant Governor in the state Senate’s deadlocked vote on a federal constitutional amendment.

The court found that in both Coleman and Raines there had to be more that an “abstract dilution of institutional legislative power” to confer standing.

In Raines the dilution was abstract, in Coleman it was not.

5. What Obama’s Executive Order does is it occupies a field of legislative power exclusively reserved for Congress and hence the dilution of institutional power is not abstract but concrete and certain. It is no argument to say that this use of executive power may be nullified by Congress. Nullification through veto belongs to the Executive over Congressional legislation BEFORE it becomes law.

Congress does not nullify. It amends or repeals existing legislation or passes new laws. Obama has violated separation of powers because of the “institutional injury” to the legislative branch in a concrete and clear way by bestowing benefits to illegals.

Time for a JOINT SENATE-HOUSE RESOLUTION opposing amnesty AND benefits and for Congress to bring immediate suit in the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia seeking expedited review since it involves a dispute between two branches of the national government.

Wishful thinking, Dr. Coburn; nothing will happen. The left has so successfully fragmented America that there is no united front to resist this.

Why not?

The anti-amnesty people should do some community organizing across the nation.

The anti-amnesty numbers have always been in the 60-70+% range, yet the politicians and presidents ignore the will of the people.

You do not talk about the club.

Lol. Which club would that be? The "Gotta vote Republican because even a RINO is better than a democrat" club? Or the "Gonna sue the president" club? Perhaps the "Armchair Revolutionary that has entirely too much to risk to actually act" club? Oh, I know, the "Got the balls to do something but everyone just calls me a criminal and now I'm doing 25 to life and didn't start a damn thing" club?

Or did I just break the rule?

Good one, dware.

Born from frustration, my FRiend. Truth is, we do A LOT of talking, but in the end, nothing changes. Obola will have his amnesty. The GOPe will let him get away with it, just as they have done with everything else Obola does. We will pi$$ and moan, and take it up the tail pipe. That's how this works. We may live in "North America", but this is no longer the "United States of America". The Constitution, arguably, was tossed out long ago, and has never been reinstated. We are the peasantry, they are the elites, and we will spend our lives squabbling for the scraps from their table and hope we get out of life without any major hiccups. Fighting back? Lol. Not gonna happen. There will be no CWII, because if there was, it would require entirely too much sacrifice on the part of those who still believe in the outdated concept of "'Murica". I've been a part of this forum for far too many years and have watched the Country fall apart, little by little. If there WERE patriots enough to bring it back, they would be here. Unfortunately, we're still just talking, and I'm not getting any younger.
