Boehner: Obama Has Cemented His Legacy of Lawlessness
Townhall.com ^ | November 20, 2014 | Katie Pavlich

Posted on 11/21/2014 3:48:43 AM PST by Kaslin

House Speaker John Boehner, who warned after the recent midterm elections that executive action on immigration reform would "poison the well," has issued a statement in response to President Obama's announcement and decision to move forward with changes in immigration law without Congress, saying Obama has "cemented his legacy of lawlessness."

“The American people want both parties to focus on solving problems together; they don’t support unilateral action from a president who is more interested in partisan politics than working with the people’s elected representatives. That is not how American democracy works. Not long ago, President Obama said the unilateral action he just announced was ‘not an option’ and claimed he’d already ‘done everything that I can on my own.’ He said it would lead to a ‘surge in more illegal immigration.’ He said he was ‘not a king’ and ‘not the emperor’ and that he was ‘bound by the Constitution.’ He said an action like this would exceed his authority and be ‘difficult to justify legally.’ He may have changed his position, but that doesn’t change the Constitution," Boehner said. “By ignoring the will of the American people, President Obama has cemented his legacy of lawlessness and squandered what little credibility he had left. His ‘my way or the highway’ approach makes it harder to build the trust with the American people that is necessary to get things done on behalf of the country. Republicans are left with the serious responsibility of upholding our oath of office. We will not shrink from this duty, because our allegiance lies with the American people. We will listen to them, work with our members, and protect the Constitution."

All that’s true. Obviously they’re counting on their dumbed-down electorate not reading history, and instead forming their opinions from misleading headlines and Hollywood.

It’s been working for them for a good while now, so why not go for broke? Even the speech last night was geared toward the “stupid” Americans who will fall in line for them, repeating their talking points about other presidents having done the same thing.

I think you block this any way you can and get it into the courts. This really is a constitutional crisis, and it should take some hard boiled thinking from our side. I don’t think we should jump knee jerk into responding.

I’m very very afraid that we hear not one....not one democrat crying out that this is unconstitutional?

OK how exactly do the dems get more power when the repubs have the house and senate?

And there’s the trap the dems put out there about “if you impeach, you’re raciss’ “

People should not fall for that one either.

This usurper has broken his oath to the constitution, acted extraconstitutionally, and deserves to be brought up on charges and impeached.

Something needs to be done; see this topic by Mr Robinson:

Well, if stupid Americans are so hung up on Barack’s skin color, tell them that he is half-white and you are impeaching the white part of him.

Speaker Boehner, we have heard enough of your opinions in the past 4 years, since the Tea Party gave the GOP the majority to elect you speaker.

Now you tell us Obama is lawless and you have taken impeachment off the table. There's only one question: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

No more talk, no more mumblings, no more excuses.

Not sure I really like that label. IMHO we need to stop focusing so much on Obama as a person and instead on hanging his policies as millstones around the necks of Democrats in general.

So “Demnesty” rather than “Bamnesty”.

Consider the well to be poisoned. And not with some poison that may be diluted, and neutralized, but like plutonium, with a half-life ranging from Pu-233 of 20 minutes or so, Pu-241 of 14.4 years, up to Pu-239 of 24,000 years, the damage is both immediate and projecting far into the future.

The answer to lawlessness is not more lawlessness, but firm and unrelenting application of the law. This should be on a Federal court docket at noon today, or however soon a suit challenging the legality of this action may be written and presented. Surely the Congress of the United States and its individual members have standing, as well as the governors of the several states, and if they do not, then the rot has proceeded much too far.

There may be need for People’s Tribunals to be set up, if the Federal courts cannot or will not act. The Constitution, so far as I know, is still valid, and it cries out for the provisions to be enforced.

Then we fall into the trap of allowing lawlessness.

<> . . . what exactly is left to brag about after eight years in office?<>

For his party and statist fans, Obama has firmly established the precedent of executive lawmaking. He knocked off a critically ill republic.

The tyrant may be gone in 2017, but the tyranny will remain.

Yes, it is time for an Article V state convention to propose structural amendments.

Kaslin, Bert’s comment reminded me of something, they impeached Nixon on (among other things) the plot to, not the actual use of, use the IRS against someone (or someones)

Bert’s comment:

To: pepsionice

He took the side of Trayvon and is screwing around out in Missouri. He is at base,a racist

He used the IRS as a cudgel to throw an election. He is a treacherous tyrant

He will serve as the horrible example even if he lives till January 2017

There is a whole array of offences committed by this character 0, that warrants his impeachment.

Goods peech Mr. Speaker. Now, what’s your plan? We realize its a tough needle to thread, but the Constitution is way more important than anyone’s silly political career. Is there anyway this can be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court?
Allowing a few thousand illegal aliens amnesty here and there...like other Presidents did is Proprietorial Discretion. Allowing 5 million (and we know its way more than that)amnesty is in fact changing immigration law. This can’t be legal. We need a decision on this immediately....even if it doesn’t break the correct way, we need a Supreme Court Decision and we need it now!

Boner has ‘Issued a statement’??? WHY THE HE** WASN’T HE ON TV RIGHT AFTER OUR BOY-KING COUNTERING ALL THE LIES?? IIRC, EVERY time GWB was on TV, the Dems had an immediate rebuttal. Our Repub wimps are not serving this country well when they let Bammy get away with all those lies!

You are forgetting that there is another election in 2016. Not only will there a new president elected, all 435 members of the House have to run for reelection. Plus there are 10 rats that are up for reelection in the Senate. The ones running for sure are: dingy Harry Reid, Chuckie Schumer, Leaky Patrick Leahy and Patty Murray.

On the republican side 24 senators are up for reelection. Thirteen of them are definitely running for reelection. The other 20 have not made a decision yet. (David Vitter is running for Governor of LA in 2015.

House Speaker John Boehner and SML elect McConnell need to pull both their heads out of their GOP-E serving butts and start acting like leaders rather than high dollar K-Street Democrat Ho's.

The voters put a two house majority in to get things back on track. They didn't do it so you two bungling fools could once again waste opportunity and serve corporate interest only. Whatever it takes do it. If it's a shutdown so be it. Grow a Spine.

I don't give a rats behind who their friends are across the aisle. The GOP-E Lip Service isn't cutting it and GOP-E needs to be put on notice no more bipartisan business as usual. Personally I think both were very wrong choices to head the new sessions. I think we have much better leaders. The surrender crap as in pulling shutdown off the table before negotiations even start is a lunge in the wrong direction but typical for both.

And Boner has cemented his legacy of allowing Obama to do so. The GOP is a goner.

“Why don’t you wait and see”

We have been waiting. How much longer do you expect us to wait? Obama told them for months what he was going to do and Boner has done nothing to prepare, so we can use our brains and figure out he is going to do nothing.
