WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgia's 9th District Congressman Doug Collins issued a statement following President Obama's speech Friday night, promising that the president will get push-back from the House of Representatives on an immigration plan.
"The majority of the Peoples House will fight this because it is wrong. It is political retribution under the false guise of compassion, and it is yet another abuse of power the branch of government closest to the people will have to resolve," said Collins.
In a prime time address to the nation, President Obama said he would use executive order to grant work permits to five million illegal immigrants, allowing them to avoid deportation.
Executive action granting amnesty to millions of illegals is President Obama taking out his anger on the American people for rejecting his agenda through the due process of elections two weeks ago," said Collins, a Gainesville Republican.
"Hes had six years to work with Congress, two of those years with his party in total control of Washington, on constructive, compassionate, and fair immigration reform," Collins said in his press statement.
President Obama plans a rally in Las Vegas Friday to bolster support for his plan, and the White House is enlisting the aid of immigrant advocacy groups, according to a report from the Associated Press.
Collins is a good one.
New-ish but a keeper.
North Georgia has become one of the fiercest liberty-loving, Constitution-loving areas in the nation over the past 15 years.
Put that geniie back into the bottle.
Once the blacks catch on that the half-white president has traded their future jobs and benefits for the potential loyalty of Hispanics, he may end up with a win-lose situation for the dems.
For a group that put him into office and supported him, that’s quite a slap in the face.
Hispanics in Ga were won by the GOP senate candidate in numbers far exceeding previous elections [something like 42%] - this amnesty is not paying dividends to the dems, it’s costing them. Black vote was waaaay down this time too.
Blacks have been fired.
The DNC has cheaper labor now.
No important committees for you Bub.
"But first we gotta go on our Thanksgiving vacation."
And Mr. Collins will hear from me while he’s home.
