TOP REPUBLICANS: WE MUST STOP OBAMA'S AMNESTY, AND WE WILL
Breitbart ^ | November 21, 2014 | by MATTHEW BOYLE

Several top Republicans have issued statements in response to Obama’s executive amnesty order announcement promising to stop him. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the outgoing chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, said, “we cannot let this stand.” “The President’s unilateral actions on immigration are a violation of his responsibilities and the trust the American people have placed in him,” Issa said.

“President Obama is playing a dangerous political game with lives and deepening the mistrust that the American people and Congress have in his ability to faithfully execute the law. The President is not respecting our system of checks and balances—we cannot let this stand.” Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) promised to do everything he can to stop Obama.

“Granting amnesty to those here illegally is an affront to American workers and the people who are trying to join our country legally,” Hudson said. “As I’ve said before, I recognize our immigration system is broken and in need of reform, but I cannot and will not support any type of immigration reform until we secure the border first. We need to pass permanent, meaningful reforms that address the root of the problem to stop the influx of illegal immigration. I will do everything in my power to block the administration’s illegal amnesty policies and remain committed to working with my colleagues to secure our borders and fix our broken immigration system.”

Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) said he expects Obama to veto attempts to stop him, but Republicans should do everything they can to block him.

Boehner, McConnell, and the rest of the GOPe see this as an opportunity to pass CIR prior to the 2016 elections. They want to get this off the table. Obama has already said that whatever Congress passes (and he agrees to sign) will supersede his quasi-executive order. The GOPe will press that this be done to avoid a constitutional crisis.

Chuck Schumer suggested the other day that, "Republicans shouldn’t get mad, they should get even. Nullify the president’s executive order by passing our bill,” he said, referring to the bipartisan immigration reform bill he and others negotiated. The president has said he’ll tear up the executive order as soon as Congress passes a comprehensive bill that takes care of immigration.

I may be accused of wearing a tin foil hat, but I don't trust Boehner and McConnell who may have struck this deal with Obama giving him the go-ahead privately so they can pressure the GOP Tea Party wing to pass immigration legislation. The 14 Rep senators who signed on to the Gang of 8 bill will press for a path to citizenship so they can double the guest worker program to 1.4 million a year. Their corporate paymasters want that more than anything else. Amnesty is just a bargaining chip.

Now that Obama has given amnesty to over 5 million, this will not be reversed in any bill that goes forward. There is no political will to take back the work permits.

The only hope, and it is a slim one, is to stop the implementation of the amnesty. For the reasons I have stated, the GOPe want it to happen.

Top Republicans:
We wanted this SO badly, and now we don’t have to take the blame.
And you still have to vote for us in 2016 because otherwise you’ll get Hillary! or Fauxchahantas.

Nominally non-Democrat critters like Darrell “Viper” (Car Alarms) Issa and his like-minded serpents will fight this with the same zeal and arrive at the same results as when they investigated the IRS for unprofessional, political corruption hurting conservative groups and the Justice Department for lawlessness (the Justice Dept!):

IOW, lots of sturm und drang, lots of entrances & exits, stage left, raised voices & pointed fingers ... then they reluctantly fold-up like K-mart lawn chairs.
clackety clackety clackety clackety clack: the GOP’s fabulous, furious, fighting lawn chairs!
Giving these people power—at least the ones we know—is starting to look a lot like wishful thinking. Maybe not.

“The President’s unilateral actions on immigration are a violation of his responsibilities and the trust the American people have placed in him,”

For which the ONLY legitimate response is to impeach the traitor and try him for treason. Period. Not lawsuits. Not defunding. Not swinging fists in the air. And if congress won't, then it's high time the people do.

I agree. I came to those sorts of conclusions during the 90s, and all the Clinton hearings.

They were a waste of time. They didn’t give a rats ass.

Issa may mean well, but at the end of the day there’s nothing to show for it.

“Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) promised to do everything he can to stop Obama.”

Interesting how they always leave themselves an out.

“Everything he can.”

Why didn't you impeach him?

“I couldn't.”

All hat and no cowboy?

I'll hold my judgment...for now.

Short term CR then defund it next year-that’s the ONLY viable action.

I completely agree. The correct answer is Impeachment.
