I remember seeing a military vehicle in South Vietnam with Claymore mines around the outside, also a Rhodesian vehicle with two 9mm sub machine guns mounted on the roof pointing to the sides of the road.

I don’t think that’s a very good idea. The backblast from a claymore is lethal.
