GOP offices say Republican Senate leaders weren’t involved in Sen. Mike Enzi’s (R-Wyo.) decision to challenge Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) for the Senate Budget Committee gavel.

Incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) office said it didn’t know why Enzi jumped into the race when asked if his decision was the result of pressure from GOP leaders.

Nothing new. Were not a few relieved of committee positions post last election? Mitch and Boner have to keep GOPe types in control. It is a fragile alliance indeed when against the will of the people.........

Sessions needs to replace Boner.

Important to note that Enzi’s “seniority” is based on drawing lots in 1997. Enzi has been MIA during historic times. For that alone he is not qualified to be chairman over a patriot like Sessons. But them the beltway GOP is all about perks and not patriotism.

Sessions needs to replace Boner.

You need to start paying attention ... Sessions is a Senator, "Boner" is Speaker of the House

Ms. Cheney did not explain why Enzi should have been retired. Her campaign was dismal. Now we know what she may have had in mind.

Thanks for the Enzi facts.

Midge claims to have *nothing* to do with Enzi’s sudden interest in the chairmanship position. Yeah, right.

Another FReeper - sorry, can’t remember who - said that Enzi’s seniority doesn’t stand, on this chairmanship position. I’m not sure, but I pray not. Like you said....Enzi’s not even qualified.

Who needs to start paying attention?

The House of Representatives may elect anyone they want as Speaker including non-members.

Right ... and that's just the most logical thing in the world to do because there are so many precedents ... elect a sitting Senator as Speaker of the House.

Pound sand.

The GOP should elect Sarah Palin as speaker, that should cause great anguish in liberal ranks.

Both posts include “need”—there’s the problem. What they mean is “should,” indicating that it is the writer’s opinion.

Having trouble getting egg off your face after your sanctimonious comment to FReeper TonyM? And you continue to show your ignorance ...

If Sen. Sessions was elected Speaker of the House, it actually would be quite a step up from his Senate seat as he would become second-in-line to the Presidency.

“Ms. Cheney did not explain why Enzi should have been retired. Her campaign was dismal. Now we know what she may have had in mind.”

The other piece that needs to come out here is the “Enzi Apologists” on FR who told us what a good guy Enzi was and how “reprehensible” it was for Ms.Cheney to even think about running against him. More GOPE cognitive dissonance. “Our years long serving GOPE (read RINO) needs to stay on.” Just like Roberts and Cochran. Let’s just keep re-electing these old fossils because they “deserve to stay until they die.” As long as we think that way, the RATs will always win in the end.
We have an acquaintance who is a Wyoming State legislator. He hates the Tea Party and loves being called a RINO. He also loves all the pork that comes from the Feds, and he says he is typical of the Republicans in the Wyoming Legislature.

Right, and that's precisely why TonyM suggested that Sessions needs to replace Boehner.

Nope, he was uninformed ... and you're still stuck trying to justify your "putting me in my place" by pretending that Sessions replacing Boehner is an option that might ever take place in the real world.

Again, since you already don't like me, pound sand.

Will it be known which Senators voted for Enzi and Sessions?
