Thanks to the FDAs calorie labeling regulations announced Tuesday, major changes will soon be coming to the food and restaurant industries.
The regulation itself is nothing new; it became law in 2010 as a provision attached to the Affordable Care Act, but final rules were delayed for the past few years, thanks in large part to heavy opposition from grocery stores, pizza chains, vending machines, convenience stores, and movie theaters. Although some concessions were made, none of these industries were fully spared. By November 2015, these establishments will be forced to post calorie information on menus and menu boards, which opponents have argued is costly (representatives from the grocery store industry, for example, have said it will exceed $1 billion) and will have job-killing effects.
The FDAs press release has the details:

Nanny State PING!
More regulations, more unjustified encroachment into the private sector, more illegal laws passed as administrative law by the executive branch, more reasons to demand every illegal federal administrative agency be abolished. At what point is enough enough, at what point are the Federal buffoons going too far? Answer: now! Stop this King George enslavement to an unaccountable bureaucracy!
FUFDA!!
Which means it's good for the economy!

The Left hates fatties.
They're flabbyphobes.
"Barack knows that we are going to have to make sacrifices; we are going to have to change our conversation; we are going to have to change our traditions, our history.
We're going to have to move into a different place as a nation to provide the kind of future we all want desperately for our children."
So, sacrifice on good people.
You’re right about the encroachment into the private sector, but this isn’t a situation where the executive branch is illegally sidestepping Comgress bymaking administrative law - Congress required the FDA to make these rules, by law

Would it be safe to assume that the new calorie count will also have to be in Spanish?
Why not make all restaurants offer menus in every language?
“Congress required the FDA to make these rules, by law”
That appears to be the case. Obamacare is the gift that just keeps on giving.
You know that started a long time ago.
All of the fancy five-star restaurants that the politicos and “shining-happy people” go to are just subsidiaries of conglomerates that are exempt from all this ‘common-people’ bother.
(I reference that song with that fat-ass B-52s whatshername)
all this means is the consumer will pay more. So just when one thought the low gas prices were great here comes the Dems making you pay more.
Thanks Nancy Pelosi...not
No, there are plenty of simple nutrition software programs that can easily calculate all the nutritional information. Personally, it will be nice to know a bit more about what is in the foods we get served.
Your having an app with nutrition information doesn’t negate the FDA requirements on the restaurant.
For now, only businesses with 20 or more locations are affected. Over the next few years, the FDA could easily lower that number to 10 or even 5 locations. Once they’re down to 5, what’s to stop them from requiring every restaurant to comply?
And keep those portions "sensible"! Michelle is watching.
I guess they must have found a way to justify anything they want.
Amazing, considering how many of them are larger than Texas.
