I had the same reaction to 0bama prior to the election in 2008, and once the results came in I was so angry about what I knew was coming, that I literally "dropped out" for about a year and a half. I completely immersed myself in sports of all sorts as a pure escape mechanism. (I just couldn't deal with talking about any of it with anyone without going into a deep rage.) It was actually a chance tune-in of Mark's show one evening in the runup to the healthcare abomination that got me back into the fold, so to speak.

I am not so sure about "massive & sustained protests" at this point. I've been to DC for 2 of the 3 large ones but it didn't matter a whit to any of them. Yes, they were neither massive enough, nor sustained in any way, but I wonder if we can actually get more people out and involved in that way for a number of reasons. But I am convinced that a very careful and well-planned attempt at a series of Amendments via the 2nd part of Article V is about our only hope to stop & correct this peaceably. (It has basically become about the only way I am willing to spend my scarce time & other resources.) To me, it is basically the fire extinguisher behind the glass, "break open and use for emergencies." We probably should have broken that glass decades ago, but we didn't; so now we must.

Anyway, thanks for your input on the Article V approach, and yes, there are many other Amendments to be discussed in other threads!

To me this is the way for us, at this point, to "Never, never, never give up."

We’re on your six - or your twelve, nine or three - wherever you need us, brother.
