Face It: Republicans Want Amnesty
rushlimbaugh.com ^ | 12-3-2014 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: Since I have explained all this logically -- and the end result of explaining this logically is to illustrate the on-the-surface illogic of all of these people afraid of the government shutdown. It simply is illogical. Everybody bleating about, "No, no! No, no! Ohhhh, no! Shut down the government? Oh, my God! Shut down the government? We're gonna get blamed. We're gonna get creamed! No! No!" They don't really mean that. Here's what it all means.

They may mean that, but when you strip all this away, what it really means is -- and batten down the hatches here. It means that the vast majority of the membership of the Republican establishment and their donors want amnesty. That's what all this means. You've gotta cut through the noise here, which is one of the things I always try to do, not get distracted, 'cause all of this talk about a government shutdown is a sideshow. These people are smart enough to know.

Hell, if I can figure it out, they can.

"A government shutdown is so devastating that we can't recover! Oh, my God," and we only won a landslide election? What this is about is the establishment concocting an excuse where they don't have to stop Obama because they don't want to, folks. That's the only logical interpretation for all of this. The election results are clear. The voters don't want any more of what Obama is promising, implementing or offering. They don't want any more of it.

The election was the only way people in this country have of saying "stop." Well, the people they elected to stop it, at least in the case of amnesty, don't want to stop it. But they can't come out and say that. They can't come, after all of this, and act like they are as eager for amnesty as Obama, but they are. We know it to be true. We know the Republican establishment, we know the Chamber of Commerce, we know that many of the donors want amnesty.

They want all of these low-skilled and low-educated workers because they're low-wage. They've not even denied this, in recent months/years. So what this is really all about is it's just easier for these people to hide behind the dangers of a government shutdown as the excuse for not stopping Obama. That's all this really is, because they're not this shortsighted.

They don't really think we can't shut down the government and stop Obama because of a poll in the Washington Post about being blamed for a shutdown. It's that they don't want to. The polling data is a convenient excuse. "Hey, look, if we do it we're gonna get creamed! We just won, and you want us to throw away this victory by ticking off the people who just elected us?" It's a sideshow excuse. That's what it is. Face it.

Indeed. And it is also in large part a cover for the GOPe sellout on amnesty.

What are you talking about, and what kind of Democrat propaganda are you regurgitating here? I’m in favor of our Constitutionally elected representatives carrying out their constitutional duty by voting to fund only appropriate functions for our federal government. That is how our government was designed.

If Obama kicks it back to Congress with a veto, I hope that Congress overrides it. If it doesn’t, then it would be Obama “shutting down” the government.

Just a few short year ago Rush would have been explaining what a brilliant Strategy the GOP was executing.

No, I asked you a direct question, you take pot shots. I disagree with you on how to handle it pollitically. Get over it. You are correct in your technical analysis, but wrong in the perception of the American public, they will blame conservatives and that matters (especially for the next election). I want to give the other side hell for two years and hopefully get a Ted Cruz in office with republican majorities. It is pretty much the last hope in my opinion.

What do you propose big boy??? You think you are so right that the consequences be dammed...Guess what genius, it has not worked the 3 last times we tried it. You might not care about the consequences, I do. You seem to have your own version of Conservative Political Correctness. You might want to burn down the house for the sake of your political purity, please stop whining when others disagree with you...

I tried to explain to you why your question is nonsensical, but apparently it’s not taking.

No, I don’t advocate Obama “closing down the government” over this, because I don’t agree with his pro-amnesty position and actions. But he is the only one who would be so “closing” the government, not the GOP Congress.

If you’re such a Ted Cruz fan, you should understand that.

So are you yourself not pro-amnesty?

Absolutely not. I thought GW absolutely blew this after 911. At that time, he could have completely sealed the border, deported all illegals and reformed the system and nobody would have said a peep. Instead he brought us the patriot act “because since we don’t know who is here illegally, we need to monitor the citizens of the USA”. Full disclosure, I would not be against a guess worker program, but all illegals must go home first and register and be screened before we let you in and BTW, we can kick you back out for any reason we have.

So you’d give them amnesty as long as they go home on a holiday to see their families first.

Jeesh!

It’ll be a little rough for awhile is an understatement of large proportions. It would be far worse than a little rough. Though the American people will survive (albeit minus a rather sizeable number of them). IMO

I think you're absolutely right. The 'little rough' was me being calm about the whole situation, if that makes sense. Back in the late 1700's, Washington talked of how his soldiers walked 20+ miles in the snow with little to no shoes, leaving a trail of blood in the snow.

Yep, but a funny thing happened called 911 and diverted the agenda and I think you will agree that GW is no Ted Cruz...

GW WAS very Ted Cruz like, in the beginning. I recall all the talk of "gravitas" and how things would be sunshine and roses if the R's just got the WH and Congressional majority. I get 9/11, but you tell me, was 9/11 justification for the current surveillance BS we are subjected to? Sure, Obola has expanded it, but Dubya started it. And what did 9/11 have to do with Medicare Part D or "Too big to fail"/bailout policies?

No, I am absolutely for kicking them out, all of them. We do have the upper ground right now in this fight, Obama FFFed up big time and it is hurting him. Let it keep hurting him.

Start sending bills about going after employers of illegals, etc. Increase the funding the Border Patrol including deportations (which he used in his speech as something he was for, so make it his "End Welfare as we know it" moment). Ramp up the investigations of Fast and Furious, etc. Hit him repeatedly everywhere and keep it on the front page. Honestly, I think we are after the same "what", I think we disagree about the how. All of my comments are really about the how and if I am right, it will take a while and if I am wrong, well it wouldn't be the first time today... Not sure why you would say what you are saying about the holiday...

Surpised Rush hasn’t used the term UNIPARTY already.

Maybe he has....

The saying "You can accomplish anything if you don't care who gets the credit" was one of Reagan's favorites.

Yet if Rush did start using the term "Uniparty," a lot of folks on FR would be caterwauling that Rush didn't credit Free Republic. *sigh*

Frankly, I'm glad he doesn't mention FR very much, even if he reads it (and I hope he does, because there are some absolutely splendid commentators on here) and even if he repeated word for word things that are written here.

I'd be glad to see him doing that. I wish he would! And I wish that the folks who wrote the words he quoted remembered Reagan's guide: You can accomplish anything if you don't care who gets the credit.

Interesting.

What is your evidence that the public punished the GOP for shutting down the government?

+9 Senators? The most House members since the 1920s? The most State Legislative chambers EVER?

I say, shut it down again, keep it shut for twelve months, and take it back to the voters. I love the smell of shutdown in the morning. It smells like...VICTORY.

Read my post just above, 9yearlurker asked me something similar. GW was and is no conservative. After 911 we could have solved the illegal problem once and for all, GW decided since we didn’t know who was here, than we have to monitor US citizens. I don’t think Ted Cruz sounds like GW at all. I will be sorely disappointed if Ted won the Presidency and he flaked into another RINO. My hope is we can get two more conservatives on the Supreme Court while replacing the older conservatives if they step down. In the long run, we need the courts to keep the government in check, otherwise time to arm ourselves to the teeth...

Ebola and ISIS pushed it off the front page (and the media and the Democrats did their best to bring it back). Clinton’s re-election was greatly helped by the first one. Obama managed this last one skillfully and OBTW, I know he and Reid were responsible for it, not the House Republicans...Now talk to any low information voter and they will tell you it was the republicans (they probably could not name one, but they would blame the republicans). We are fighting at a disadvantage in this area. So lets go after the President where he is very vulnerable and try to change things where we can and nail it in 2016.

I don’t know where I read it, but I like “Vichy Republicans” for the GOPe leaders who can’t wait to surrender, as long as they keep their party leadership positions.
