“..gives the officers an excuse to look for anything illegal.”

Back in the day when my kids were real little, I had the rule that no cops were allowed in the house. It even came up a few times when I would call them about an abandonded car, strange guy walking around, etc. The last thing I needed was seeing a house with toys scattered around, a pile of dirty laundry, and my 3-year old daughter walking around with the front of her shirt up and around her neck (what a goof-ball!) and have them call CPS on us!

Looks like the city of Beloit is one gigantic HOA from hell.

Just scanning a couple of the current city codes, I found this gem if your front yard/house is “messy/unsightly/etc.”

“.07 - ACCESS TO PROPERTY.

(1)

ACCESS BY BUILDING OFFICIAL. (Am. #3221) A building official, upon display of proper identification, may enter any structure or premises at any reasonable time for the purpose of performing his duties under this code. The owner, occupant or operator of every structure or premises, or person in charge thereof, shall give building officials free access to the structure and the premises on which it is located at all reasonable times for the purpose of inspection. No person shall obstruct or resist any building official doing an act in his official capacity and with lawful authority. “

I guess they could search for guns while checking on your overgrown shrubs.....

All the cops are asking in return is that you have a couple boxes of Dunkin’ Donuts on hand while they search.

Liberalism has the inherent assumption of the benevolence of gov’t and its agents.

Reality, and conservatism, is based on the opposite assumption.

First, the comments at the full article are great.

Second, the article starts with this gem:

‘Police in Beloit are launching a new effort to reduce gun violence in which they’re asking city residents to volunteer to have police search their homes for guns.’

Clearly, the police in this town haven’t a clue or anything else better to occupy themselves with. If the later the police force needs a work force reduction. Anyway, what’s being said is regular folks are view as potential criminals if they own guns. This is the only test? Wow, as I said...clueless!!

A happy ending would be a new police chief.

Exactly what you’ve described happened to someone (I heard in an interview).

CPS got a warrant to remove the children because “the house was messy and a child was crying in another room” when they looked in the front door.

Folks, if you have kids, join heritage defense.

While I may answer the door, I’d forcefully say no then slam/lock the door in answer to such a question.

That’s a good way to volunteer to get shot.

Area code is (806) but I don’t think anyone in charge of the program will answer your call. I got dispatch to answer and then was transfers to a Sargent in charge of the program but got no answer.

Big crowd buying ammo and such yesterday shopping. Asked what kinds they wanted, all we heard was “home defense, the kind that will be sure to stop anyone coming in - especially O’s storm troopers!” $500+ purchasing - so the citizens are serious Now I suppose if someone is stupid enough to actually invite them in, then they probably arent planning to lay them out for the coroner. But this nice sheriff should probably still think his silly plan over — just in case.

That's really what we're looking for,” he said. “Maybe we'll find a toy gun that's been altered by a youngster in the house — and we know the tragedies that can occur there on occasion.”

breath-taking

Ps: the only popular ammo the store was limiting was 22. But most people wanted 45 and 357 and such.

One of the assumptions of the Humanist religion is that the “good people” alive today are smarter and more moral than anyone ever in the past.

And the Austin, TX police chief wants citizens to turn in friends and neighbors with guns so they can be vetted.

It’s a nice day out so may need to take ‘ol Betsy and her friends for a sail around the island.
