Howard Dean: Athletes Wearing 'Abortion is Murder' Not Same as 'I Can't Breathe'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Hypocrisy, thy name is Howard. The former Dem prez candidate is predictably all good with NBA players wearing "I Can't Breathe" t-shirts.

But what, posited Joe Scarborough on today's Morning Joe, if other players wore "Abortion is Murder" shirts? Dean claimed that's "not exactly the same" and is "a different kind of debate." Why? Because, according to Dean, "the survival of our country depends" on resolving the police/black men issue. You really want to talk about "survival," Dr. Dean, when tens of millions have not survived since Roe v. Wade?

Logic and Howard Dean have never been introduced. Pity!

This has been bothering me. If one can state that they can not breathe, they are in fact breathing.

True, but he obviously was having trouble breathing, as demonstrated by the fact that he died shortly thereafter. His obesity and heart condition were contributing factors but the hold put on him certainly didn’t help.

The left would like nothing better than to completely silence the pro-life crowd.

“Abortion is Murder” doesn’t fan the flames of racial strife, so it is verboten.

I do believe that they could have handled this one much better than they did. The poor man was not a mass murderer, but... just as a mtter of getting the “public” to stop making stupid statements. “I am having trouble breathing” would be a better statement. I am just anal that way.

I do believe in this case the police overreacted.

When a guy is dying, can we really second-guess his choice of words? And would “having trouble” have made the police more likely to help him than what he did say?

not when it’s your last breath, the police murdered this man

He had a heart attack caused by his obesity and the exertion of trying to resist arrest.

There is a maxim in criminal law that you take your victim as you find him. The classic example is punching someone with an unusually fragile skull, who dies. The fragile skull is no defense.

He shouldn’t have been resisting arrest,
but the reason for his arrest shouldn’t have existed either.
