Actually, I think all leos should be required to carry malfeasance insurance, individually paid for according to that individual’s risk.
If it becomes too expensive due to that officer being too high of a risk, he needs to seek employment in another profession.

If it becomes too expensive due to that officer being too high of a risk, he needs to seek employment in another profession.The same would happen if the award was extracted from the union pension fund. Additionally, the other cops would have skin in the game and do a little bit better self-policing of bad cops.
