Families of Newtown shooting victims sue gunmaker, seller

HARTFORD, Conn. – The families of nine of the 26 people killed and a teacher wounded two years ago at the Sandy Hook Elementary School filed a lawsuit Monday against the manufacturer, distributor and seller of the rifle used in the shooting.

The negligence and wrongful death lawsuit, filed in Bridgeport Superior Court, asserts that the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle should not have been made publicly available because it was designed for military use and is unsuited for hunting or home defense.

"The AR-15 was specifically engineered for the United States military to meet the needs of changing warfare," attorney Josh Koskoff said in a release. "In fact, one of the Army's specifications for the AR-15 was that it has the capability to penetrate a steel helmet."

In addition to Bushmaster, the defendants are Camfour, a firearm distributor, and Riverview Gun Sales, the East Windsor store where the gunman's mother purchased the Bushmaster rifle in 2010.

I hate having reached this point. These parents, classmates and teachers of the slain, and just about everyone else suffered unfathomable loss. It will probably for them always be a very bad nightmare that never ends.

But I'll say it. I've had it with those in that group who have become professional victims. Suing whomever isn't going to bring their children back. Do something positive so the memory of them lives on.

They crossed the line when some took a ride on AF1 to be exploited by anti-gun interests.

As I said on another thread, what about an investigation of mind-altering legal meds that so many of these maniacal killers have been given prescriptions for?

JMHO

Sorry for the spelling errors. Using iPhone.

The initial reports stated the perp had two handguns. This I believe was the truth. Then The justice dept got involved and suddenly it changed to a rifle.

. I won't beat around the bush. I don't believe a word of the bushmaster story at all. I have doubts as to whether the mother even owned a rifle. This was another setup to implement gun control.

Don't you just love a liberal reporter that is forced to write a story about a topic he knows nothing about.

Besides what is the difference between military use and hunting?

What was this civil suit on gun manufacturers to bankrupt them that was thrown out by the Supreme Court in the 90s? I do not suppose people understand history. And why not sue the school or the government for setting up deliberately a perfect slaughterhouse without the hammer?

The cover up is bigger than this event.

It is the virtual child support free money paid to irresponsible educators and their managers who build slaughter houses for little kids. Bringing the weapon in the hand of the perp of his own is the easy part. They just have to say like a typical whore: oops, not my fault he attacked, I left the door open.

If some people are to be believed this would be the first known instance of someone suing for damages caused by a legally manufactured and sold product being used in a fictitious manner.

You appear to be uniformed or something. I’m not saying the event was staged. I’m saying the government is lying about the murder weapon being a rifle. Read more carefully.

That’s the way the gun banners want it, they want to ban anything NOT for military use and then ban anything that IS FOR military use. Next they will want to ban the military, it is already so screwed up it might not make much difference anyway. Soon I expect them to ban one of the most fearsome weapons ever seen on Earth, a sixteen ounce clawhammer. I am amazed that they have not yet tried to ban the carpenter’s hatchet, that is a TRULY scary weapon.

Yeah, because the gunmaker caused Lanza’s mental problems, forced the mother to buy the guns, came up with the plan, loaded the guns, drove to the school and opened fire. Same mentality as suing McDonald’s for making you fat. Lunacy is taking over the human race.

Public Education has become a child support like entitlement for educators

Building a slaughterhouse like schools is what takes a lot of deliberate effort. Bringing the terrorist with a gun inside is the easy part, in fact it randomly happens on its own.

"In fact, one of the Army's specifications for the AR-15 was that it has the capability to penetrate a steel helmet."

And a bolt action hunting rifle with the right ammunition wouldn't? Besides the intent of the 2nd amendment is to have a rifle that would penetrate a steel helmet. A musket ball easily penetrated a tricorn.
