... Carpool lanes are so clogged in California, the state could lose federal funding and approval for projects if it doesnt fix the problem.
Under federal law, carpool lane drivers in California must be able to go an average of 45 miles per hour or faster during peak hours. Additionally, over a six-month period, traffic has to go that fast 90 percent of the time. Caltrans explains that means the lanes average speed can drop below 45 no more than two days a month ...

Carpool lanes. A bad idea at the start, a bad idea toady..
Your first two sentences were unnecessary. No one said to move over when it’s not indicated. If you want to drive with the slower traffic on the right stay on the right. Simple.
we need an initiative to make the car pool lanes open access. The new fast lane.
SoCal has decided to simply charge for the car pool lane now on some freeways.
Doesn’t matter how many are in the car.
The great leftist defender of the poor government has decided to build a two tiered system for wealthier vs poorer.
<<< Carpool lanes - dumbest idea, ever. >>>
I hate them. Let all the traffic share all the pavement. Simple math proves their inefficiency.
What a joke!...I travel the 55 freeway in Orange County every Monday thru Friday early am and every other car in the car pool lane has tinted windows and one driver!
“Carpool lanes in California are controlled access. You cant just move right at any time.”
You realize you just outed yourself as a Southern Californian, because it’s not that way in the Bay Area. We are always “behind the innovations in transportation” that are first tried in Los Angeles and surrounds. I go there once a year for the Long Beach Grand Prix, otherwise I am happy to stay away from that dump!
“we need an initiative to make the car pool lanes open access. The new fast lane.”
No truer words were ever spoken. And take those silly stickers off of the Piouses too. Talk about a POS car with similar drivers. They are one person environmental disasters. Every time I see one, I am looking for people inside to be wearing clown costumes. Now, the Tesla is a different animal, it’s a real car!
I wouldn’t brag about where you’re from regarding traffic. Not so good up North. Been there, drove that.
There are a few car pool lanes in the south, and Sacramento where you can move in and out. One thing in the north I think is better is the car pool only restricted to M-F certain hours and then open the rest of the time. soCal hasn’t
figured that out yet.

Probably a Batto!
Jon and Ken 640 AM LA would get behind that. They hate the car pool lanes.
I spent last weekend in Los Angeles, traveling between Azusa, LAX and Orange County. I’ve still got lingering anger issues from driving those freeways. Thank GOD I don’t have to do it on a regular basis any more!
“I wouldnt brag about where youre from regarding traffic. Not so good up North. Been there, drove that.”
True, but at least we don’t have 150 miles to go to get somewhere else! And I must also admit that now Cinco de Mayo is a good day to drive up here now too.
??
crossing the bridges at the wrong time of day can give me PTSD and don’t ge me started on parking in SF.
In LA they have multiple parking signs posted to trick you into parking ticket.
There you go. I was wondering how they could insure the proper speed.
Put Freepers in charge and we’ll have those HOV lanes running 60MPH minimum within weeks.
Meanwhile its amusing seeing incompetent affirmative action gov’t employees screwing liberal save_the_planet goobers in the HOV lanes. A pox on both their houses, preferably Ebola
