If you watched any of the NFL on FOX Sunday, you may have caught this commercial imploring Dish customers to push the satellite carrier to keep Fox News in the lineup. FNCs current deal with Dish expires this Saturday night at 11:59pmET.
We are simply notifying our viewers about the possibility of not being able to access FOX News on their current satellite TV provider, says Tim Carry, EVP of Distribution for Fox News.
Nearly 20,000 people called the 800 number and more than 75,000 went to the website after the ad aired during yesterdays NFL games. The ad is also airing on FOX O&Os today.
This is the third Dish contract expiration to go public in the last two months. In October, Turners deal with Dish expired leaving 14 million Dish subscribers without CNN, HLN and other Turner networks. Service was restored Nov. 21 after a new deal was struck.
CBS pulled its programming from Dish Friday, Dec. 5. Both sides struck a deal 12 hours later, returning the networks O&Os to the satellite service.
We did the same thing - bought a Roku and are pretty happy. For news clips I go online.
Owned & Operated. In this context, owned and operated by the CBS Television Network itself.
Me too, I already cut my service to the basic package because I was tired of paying for commercials Also they’re going to drop PBS.
This could be bad for the ratings.
No FNC etc, means lower viewership and lower ad rates.
remember content is old delivery.
The FNC prime time lineup is meh. (oreilly’s time has loooong gone)
Why should I watch any late news if it is all just producers reading what they lurked off the internet.
Their blonds, are interchangeable, and the suits are just suits. They dance to the tune of the producers.
If Dish wants to save money, drop msnbc. Nobody is watching that.
O&Os???
Owned and operated, a technical term for a TV station that is owned by the network, and not an independent affiliate.
And yet, Commiecast still has it, at least in my area.
Tell DISH you will DROP THEM if they drop FNS."
Calling works. Earlier this year, Directv (which we have) was thinking about dropping AMC. So many Walking Dead fans, including me, deluged them with phone calls that they dropped the idea. The rep I spoke with said, "Believe me, considering the number of calls we've received, we're not going to be dropping AMC now or ever."
So if you want Fox and you have Dish, I would say CALL.
Millions of subscribers will disappear from DISH. There is a real cost to being politically stupid in a consumer driven industry.
I've watched some Newsmax, but I can't get into it. They're clearly a start-up on a shoestring budget; they can't afford to have guests in person and usually just do phone interviews over a picture of the individual who's speaking.
Also, they're pushing gun-grabber Ben Carson for president, showing that documentary about him over and over.
I dropped Dish, then took up Direct, then there was no local channels in my area. So dumped both of them, put up antenna, I also have Netflix, Amazon, etc, and am much happier not spending the nearly $80 per month.
So I can watch a news source that is Pro Dem Elite OR Pro GOP Elite.
i knew there was a reason I dropped all cable and sat systems.
No thanks I am done with them all.
Dish also has had problems with CBS, too.
OK, here's my kick cable out of my house story. ..
Saturday morning, 11 AM, circa 2005. Kids flipping through channels, trying to find more Saturday morning type cartoons, when they accidentally come across MTv. Who should be on but the Red Hot Chili Peppers, with nothing on but strategically placed socks on something that rhymes with socks, jumping around on stage during the MTv music awards. I thought to meself,"self, why are you paying for garbage to be poured into your living room?" Haven't had it since.
Bingo! We pretty much have Fox News on most of the time. It’ll be a good excuse to end the service.
All streaming at our house. No cable or satellite. Don’t waste your money.
Fox is a joke, anyway. Just a RINO headline service.
I’ll miss Red Eye.
“...Kids flipping through channels.... the Red Hot Chili Peppers, with nothing on but strategically placed socks on something that rhymes with socks, jumping around on stage..... why are you paying for garbage to be poured into your living room?”
Zackly!!! You wouldn’t invite those fools with nothing but socks on their cocks jumping around into your living room in person, even for free, so why pay to have them appear on a screen infront of your children?
Following the same thought process, I wouldn’t want Shlep, O’Reilly, Rove, or any other of the conservative bashing establishment, no matter if they call themselves a D or an R, in my living room either. Then to think they are so full of themselves that they want me to PAY them to come into my living room so they can explain to me that I’m too stupid to understand why being a conservative isn’t good for me or the country is laughable! Then using a blonde super model to try and explain the same thing is about the oldest trick in the book!
No thanks! I think I’d rather get my news on Free Republic where I can actually discuss the issues with fellow conservatives and enjoy the occasional ZOT!
Yep, it’s like I tell people all the time when they ask me about directv, it’s is really good, when I pick up the phone and call them someone picks up the phone in the 1st 3 rings and it’s a human being that can speak English every time, but directv is a bit pricey.
Well, sounds like Comcast customer service hasn’t changed much. lol
