BREAKING: Jeb Bush is formally exploring 2016 White House bid

Jeb Bush is exploring a 2016 presidential bid.

The former Florida governor said in a post on Facebook Tuesday that over the Thanksgiving holiday there was a lot of discussion about the future of the nation.

“As a result of these conversations and thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs, I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States,” Mr. Bush said.

Mr. Bush said he plans to establish a Leader PAC next month to “help me facilitate conversations with citizens across America to discuss the most critical challenges facing our exceptional nation.”

“The PAC’s purpose will be to support leaders, ideas and policies that will expand opportunity and prosperity for all Americans,” he said.

Yes, Lazamataz, I have been here since 2004. I come often to this site and post occasionally. You are welcome to check. I recognize your name and have seen it often for years.

That should tell you something, should’t it? Would I waste my time for so many years on end if I were an amnesty-loving big government liberal? Truly, give this some thought.

Here is what you and others don’t like about me: I am a fan of civility. I am a fan of the marketplace of ideas and so I welcome all. If Jeb Bush can win the nomination, more power to him. I am not afraid of his ideas or his family.

You and others complain that Jeb Bush has sometimes made it a point to say that he has differences with conservatives. I don’t think he’s nasty about it. On the contrary, the nastiness all seems to me to emanate from the conservatives toward the establishment Republicans. You object to the infrequent exceptions he takes to conservative principles but you do in a way that makes me wonder: Why are those on this site complaining about the occasional remarks that these establishment Republicans make against conservatives when so many conservatives relentlessly pummel establishment Republicans?

You are right that I won’t survive long here. Once Romney was nominated in 2012 I was banned until after the election for saying that we should support him over Obama. I watch as Obama dismantles everything that is good in this country and I wonder how anyone on this site thinks that Romney would have been worse.

Just to make things clear, I have not said that I support Jeb Bush. I am advocating for civility and for the free exchange of ideas. If conservative arguments are compelling, then shouldn’t they win the day on their merits?

I truly hope that this doesn’t get me banned. Truly. Because I really have been coming to this site every day, 365 days each year, since 2004. There is a lot of good work done here, and I think that I mostly defer to others before posting.

Only because we let them. I just wish they would go too far for once and really show Americans what must be done.

Signed on 2 days before you - 10/20 & 10/22/2004;)

I agree 100% with your assessment of the FR discussions that too frequently devolve into hateful character assassination . It does not take any courage, planning, discipline or dedication to anonymously type tripe about citizens who step up to fulfil their civic duty and the hell they endure toward that effort.

The Bush family (IMHO) has class, humility and a desire to serve. It is admirable that GHW and GW first served in the military - one attribute which should be an asset for any potential POTUS candidate.

Wait for Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Scott Walker et al. to enter the arena with their platforms and judge them on content, Constitutionality and leadership experience.

(Thankfully, none have cankles or a nasty spouse)

Oh let's not start hammering FOX. They have their base, too and it's all about making some money from advertisers which is the American way, right? As long as the MSNBC Libtards react with skull explosions on this topic, it's all good with me. If he really listens to the folks who will respond to his research, he won't get in after all. And if he does, he'll get creamed in the primaries. And so it goes.

Nailed it! Americans and conservatives are finally waking up that globalism and transnational banks/corporations that own our government are neither conservative nor do they serve us. They are more likely to represent a threat to our freedoms and our economy because they represent conflicts of interest to Americans. Crony capitalism represents a merging of corrupt pols and business interests that conive and use our tax dollars as their piggy bank instead of using private capital.

Putting parties and politics (and Obama) aside the Bushes and Clintons have done enormous harm to the USA IMHO. I don’t wish to see either one “darken the door to the Whitehouse again”, to take a phrase Rove used against Tom Tancredo because he opposed Bush on immigration.

Why we allow some families reach the status of political dynasty is beyond me.. Nepotism is anti everything most of us wish America stood for.

Obama just finished helping Boehner & McConnell murder America. They are peas in a pod.

Thank you, sodpoodle. Your added years of coming to this site come shining through.

I think our end of the political spectrum will be battling some horrid fights with the left in these next two years. Obama, Pelosi, and Reid each has nothing to lose from going all in on his power trip and it will be a nasty, nasty battle.

To the extent that it is possible, I am praying that our side can fight as one. And where we can’t, I hope that we can at least differ in a civil and deferential way so that on those issues where there is consensus we can still join forces. I don’t want any bridges burned. Considering what has been said and done, I understand that this is difficult and that trust is lacking. But the outcome is so very, very important!
