If I want 97% lean ground, it’s $7.23/pound at the local market. Ground chicken and turkey are less, but still around $4.00/pound.

Guess I’ll have to go vegetarian. Yuck!

My pastured, local farm raised beef averages about $7/lb. The farmer doesn’t sell sides, only packages through a CSA. Suddenly it doesn’t seem like a luxury purchase any more.
