There were hemp farms in Wisconsin in the past. Used for it fibers in making strong ropes.

Lots of uses, and several different types.....all this hysteria is unfounded.

It makes the best rope for a lot of purposes. Industrial hemp is not really useful as a drug, though, but it is still banned because it is essentially a very low potency form of marijuana. I suppose the feds were afraid that they couldn’t enforce the ban if they had to check every “hemp” field to make sure it wasn’t really the potent variety.
