Virginia: Governor McAuliffe Announces Next Grab For Your Gun Rights
The Daily Caller ^ | 12/17/2014 | NRA ILA Contributor

Under the guise of “public safety,” Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) announced Monday his push for a package of gun control measures during the 2015 session of the Virginia General Assembly in his latest misguided attempt to erode the rights of law-abiding citizens.

McAuliffe’s scheme for rolling back your constitutionally protected freedoms includes:

*Attempting to reimpose the ineffective one-handgun-per-month (gun rationing) restriction that Virginia repealed in 2012.

*Seeking to arbitrarily strip some 9,000 Virginia residents of their right to hold concealed handgun permits for falling behind on child-support payments and pursuing prohibitions for people convicted of certain misdemeanor crimes from possessing a firearm.

*Attempting to expand background checks.
Anyone engaged in the business of buying and selling firearms for livelihood and profit must be federally licensed as a firearm dealer (FFL) and thus there is no such thing as a “private vendor.” A gun dealer must maintain a record of every firearm received from, or transferred to, another person or dealer and any further expansions of the law will have no impact on criminal activity. Today, gun control activists like McAuliffe are trying to expand this system to all firearm transfers at gun shows, under the banner of “universal” background checks; an innocent sounding title for what should really be called “universal registration.” What they won’t tell you is that no background check system will ever be truly “universal” because criminals will not submit themselves to such system and therefore their anti-gun approach once again singles out individuals who are law-abiding citizens. The NRA opposes these misleading proposals and will work diligently to defeat this legislation.

Please contact your state legislators before the Virginia General Assembly convenes on January 14 and let them know that you oppose McAuliffe’s latest attempt to trample on the rights of Virginians.

Once again we see the anti-liberty brigades working incessantly to destroy our Commonsense Civil Rights.

They are changing tactics from pushing the Assault Weapon Scam to attain the precursor to CONFISCATIONUniversal Registration.

So-called gun grabbing “Liberals” are like a baseball pitching machine – they never stop throwing hard balls at our freedoms without stopping.

Why doesn't McAwful just issue an executive memo?

Why bother with the legislature?

This is a prime reason to join VCDL (Virginia Citizen’s Defense League), vcdl.org. These guys make the NRA look like wusses when it comes to standing up for 2A rights.

Didn’t Maryland used to be a free state. Wasnt it one of the colonies that gave HRH George III part of his problem when his came to seize the guns and powder from their neighbors in New England?

I just saw him 20 minutes ago because he is in town for some PR thing. I was so tempted to ask him about this but instead I steered clear. I wanted to ask how I was suppose to afford 12 guns a year. It is going to break my budget.

It has come to my attention that as of July 16th, 2014 the Obama Administration has effectively banned all firearm imports from Izhmash, Saiga & IZHEVSKIY under the Actions Implement Executive Order 13662.

Has to be about as stupid a move McAwful(The Punk - as Rush sometimes calls him) could make!

This is like a Christmas present for the Republicans! BRING IT ON!!! I hope they spend as much time and energy as they possibly can on this! In the end, this is gonna fail spectacularly. LOL

Not only will this legislation not pass, it will likely piss off and mobilize voters in such a way that it will likely hurt the state party, and could even drive turnout in 2016 for candidates that support gun owner’s rights. That could have national implications, given how VA is now sadly a ‘blue’ leaning swing state.

You couldn’t make a much dumber move politically or tactically. Pushing legislation that can’t possibly pass, that will anger your opposition in sufficient numbers, driving turn out AGAINST your party. WTF is he thinking? It isn’t too late for him to mail Bloomberg his checks back, and drop the whole thing. LOL (lets hope he doesn’t)

I still can’t believe that Virginia re-elected this creep. And in a year like this.

Has the state really been over-run by voters in the DC burbs?

First time for McAuliffe - Virginia limits Governors to a single term. After leaving Richmond, they usually run for a Senate seat.

Yes, he could be like a ‘mini-me’ to Obama, dictating what he wants

Fortunately in this case, VA only allows governors to serve a single four year term before leaving office. Thus, good ol’ Terry cannot be reelected.

I have no doubt the gun grabbing anti-liberty brigades of the left are just lying in wait for the next shooting they can use to exploit in their never ending quest to destroy freedom.

Can VA recall a governor? Show your displeasure. Give him
something to worry about.

Politicians, especially liberal politicians, are feral animals.

They breed beyond all reason; they serve no real practical purpose; and, more often than not, they damage/destroy rather than produce.

Accordingly, tax-paying citizens should be encouraged, and view it as their civic responsibility, to eliminate these creatures at every opportunity—No limit.

See Sarah Palin and feral hog for illustration of this concept.

This is why we refer to it being the Feral Government.

Frederic Bastiat observed that people can better themselves by either producing or plundering - more and more politicians are favoring the latter than the former.

I moved here to the PRM five years ago. I laughed the first time I heard it called The Free State.

California has a two term limit but Brown is in his fourth term.
