A Sony employee has described the company as being stuck in 1992″ following the massive hacks, with employees desperately trying to avoid using any technology that could be compromised, reports TechCrunch.
There has, though, been one exception to the ban on modern technology: Apple kit.
People using Macs were fine, she said. She said most work is done on iPads and iPhones.
Sony may need to buy a few extra Macs, with some departments having only one or two computers for the entire office. It is, she said, like living in an office from ten years ago.

All jokes aside, electronic record keeping of vital information, medical records, defense contracting, power grid...etc would have been driven out of existence except for it’s overwhelming government sponsorship and it’s concomitant legal invulnerability.
Solution is paper.
Except for one Chromebook, all my computing/communication devices are Apple; 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, a MacBook and an iMac. I've been using Macs since 2007. I'm still waiting for the viruses everyone has been telling me all this time are soon coming.
More’s the pity.
A simple iMac could solve so many problems for so little money.
The shell is bash and the vulnerability was called Shell Shock. Any system running unpatched code was evidently vulnerable, not exclusively MAC systems.
I used to be an NT/Windows admin over hundreds of computers. There was one supervisor who constantly called my techs to fix her computer after she corrupted it. Problem was she downloaded crap from the internet over and over again, mostly from attaching devices from home. I gave orders to lock it down, no USB, DVD or floppy external access. We already had filters on direct Internet access. Then she had someone revert the changes, and infected her machine again. This went on for a year before she left. Unfortunately, we were a no Apple allowed shop, sigh...
Ever tried to join a Mac to an AD domain?
Yes, but “vulnerability” isn’t a synonym for “virus”. These terms have distinct meanings for good reason.
If we are going to have an inane food fight, let’s do it right.
Ford’s are better than Chevy’s
Canon’s are better than Nikons
Betamax is better than VHS
Eight-tracks are better than cassettes
Blue-Ray is better than HD-DVD
Nikes are better than Adidas
Lite Beer from Miller is better because it tastes great rather than less-filling
Ready set go. FOOD FIGHT!
I own a computer software company. One service we offer is pen testing. An anecdote is not the same as reality. Google “Mac virus 2014” and get back to me.
Not one of these people had need of your services which is what really tees of most Luddites.
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
Mac people need to seriously get off of the myth that everyone that owns a PC is using a device that is riddled with every virus known to man.
Post after post here is the same refrain. I’ve used a Mac for (insert random number here) years and I’ve never had a virus.
Well...I’ve used PCs for over 20, not had any myself. But then again, I’m not careless. Everything that people get today comes from downloading dodgy software, going to dodgy websites, and opening up email attachments from people they don’t know, and then just installing whatever.
The same thing that happens with Macs. When the story hits about it, Apple fanatics will scream that “you can only get this if you let it in”.
Like duh! That’s how they all happen.
And besides, this Sony hack isnt even the result of a virus, or whatever nonsense Apple users want to use to advertise for that company. Various reports pointed to Sony never taking server security seriously. This isnt the first time they got hacked. The people that did this knew what they were doing and got in through a combination of carelessness and lazy management.
Not because they didnt buy Apple products.
They sure as hell weren’t hacked by N. Korea.
N. Korea is a convenient dodge for everyone.
Do you maintain antivirus software on your computer?
