Two benefits. First, it decreases the number of confrontations which might distract the cop from watching his back. Second, and more importantly, it’s going to kick the city in the pocketbook. No easy pay rather than show up tickets, and no easy plea to a fine misdemeanors. (A third benefit - the ticket fixing lawyers and the judges they deal with will feel a pinch and start pushing the politicians).

Don’t worry that’s what they are going to do, and it will be the black communities, whose crime rates will skyrocket...and the blow back from their protests will be their own victimization, without police protection as they could have had. Too bad, their decisions have consequences.
