NEW YORK (AP) — The police killings of unarmed blacks in Ferguson, Missouri, and elsewhere — and the investigations and tumultuous protests they inspired — was the top news story of 2014, according to The Associated Press' annual poll of U.S. editors and news directors.
In a year crowded with dramatic and often wrenching news developments around the world, the No. 2 story was the devastating outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, followed by the conflict in Iraq and Syria fueled by the brutal actions of Islamic State militants.
Among the 85 voters casting ballots, first-place votes were spread among 15 different stories. The Ferguson entry received 22 first-place votes, Ebola 11 and the Islamic State story 12.

What do you expect from “news editors” who are nothing but liberals exposing liberal ideology and positions. Anything that furthers Obama’s, the democrat’s and liberal positions are what is important to the liberal run media in this country. The media is as much to blame as the democrats for the position this country finds itself in.

Well of course, these folks just publish what the White House and Dems tell them to publish... and that's been the theme.
Remember that this was a poll of news reporters and editors of what they classify as important.
So what’s driving this notion that there is now an “epidemic” of white cops shooting blacks when in the last several decades the numbers of blacks killed by cops are down nearly 75 percent?

Reality - Trayvon Martin sneaked up behind George Zimmerman, meaning to “beat him down”, in an encounter that did not end well.
Reality - Darren Wilson, a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer was assaulted through the window of his police cruiser, and the assailant attempted to wrest the officer’s sidearm from the officer. Michael Brown was fleeing the scene when the officer emerged from the car, and shouted for the fleeing man to stop. Upon being told to stop, Brown, turned, and attempted to tackle the officer, who had a loaded weapon aimed at Brown. Brown’s arms were NOT raised in surrender, but as a gesture he meant to tackle the officer, football-lineman style. Brown died of multiple gunshot wounds before he reached the officer, one through the top of the head as he was falling forward.
Reality - Eric Gardner was selling “loosies”, single cigarettes, to homeless people on the streets of Staten Island, an activity forbidden by city ordinances in New York City. A citizen called the police, and several policemen surrounded Gardner, with the intention of arresting him. Gardner was a very large man, much greater in bulk than even of the biggest police officer he was confronting. Gardner chose not to submit, and the officers then took him down to the ground. Gardner was actually in very frail health, and the effects of the takedown resulted in a extreme degree of respiratory distress, resulting in his death within minutes.
In all three of these encounters, the survivors of these engagements were brought up before a grand jury. A “probable cause” was found for Zimmerman, and he was tried, but found “not guilty”. In the other two instances, the respective grand juries both returned a “no bill”, and the officers involved were never charged with criminal intent.
That’s my take on the stories and I’m sticking with it.
Sitting in my office, where I can hear CBS radio news on the hour being played, hour after hour, same #1 story of a Milwaukee case where the cop gets off without indictment; heard an unhinged hater leftist host just foaming at the mouth this AM over how it isn’t rational to blame the leftist campaign for the death of the NYPD cops( has Obama bothered to issue a statement condemning?) Leftists desperately pushing to regain momentum.

That story was superseded by Boehner, McConnell, and the RINOs announcing they would continue to cast the equivalent number of Demonicrat votes to make up for it.

Exactly. The same might be said for the rest of the white, western world.
