As usual in December, President Obama and family and staff and their families and Secret Service and armored motorcade vehicles and the family dogs flew out to Hawaii this past weekend for a couple weeks of golf and dining out. How about Obama´s other discretionary trips? How much are taxpayers billed for those?

Guess Congress missed the point when they were awarded “Power of the Purse”. There is no reason Congress HAS to fund the numerous odumbo vacations. He needs to be put on a travel budget and made to stick to it. Dodging responsibility by taking every opportunity to be away from the White House should COST HIM, not us.

Because of the security implications of presidential travel, it is not unreasonable for taxpayers to pay for a reasonable number of trips for personal reasons.
Fundraising trips are a different category, and I believe they are treated as such, to a great extent.
But I have cake. That counts, doesn’t it.

Congress needs to stop funding all presidential vacations and fundraising trips.
That's okay. She did, however, consciously uncouple from her inconvenienced neighbors, although I doubt she knows, or even cares, about trouble she caused them, Obola supporters or not.

As I understand it, fundraising trips are supposed to be paid for with campaign funds, not taxpayer money. Whether this ever happens, I have my doubts. But when the president travels on other than official business, we taxpayers are not supposed to be billed.
On the other hand, if the president goes somewhere on official business, and just happens to squeeze in a political event, we taxpayers are paying for the entire trip.

Well, sorta true.
He is required to pay commercial rates for himself and family. But requiring him to pay the full bill would be insane.
