You are correct that cameras are meaningless to criminals and their supporters, but they are important to Grand Juries.

He was a felon on probation. If he had been frisked he would have gone back to prison. He didn’t want to do that. He was successful in his endeavour. He won’t go back to prison, now.
Further reading reveals the shooting is on the video, they just aren’t showing it.

He did rightfully fear for his life or the way he would be forced to live it if he were taken back to prison for being a felon in possession of a gun.
Those body cams will most certainly be racist in the official definition due to “disparate impact.” Law enforcement itself is racist. In the category of violent and street crimes Negroes are disproportionately arrested, shot, investigated because of cultural differences. On the other end white men are arrested all out of proportion for embezzlement and fraud.
Black police are White and Racist. They are transmogrified upon swearing in.

MSNBC is busy searching for childhood photos of the thug.
There is surveillance video of this one to back up the officers version, but that doesn't seem to matter to those whose minds are closed to facts and why body cams will make no difference.
This very likely was a good shoot, but that video isn't clear. As far as I can tell, all it definitively show is that the guy lifted his arm.
What happened to all of the "cops can do no wrong/let's wait for the facts" crowd?
According to another article, the perps weapon was recovered.
With other eye witnesses on the scene and the punk having 2 priors for armed assault,, it’s gonna be tough for this story to be spun.
