Liberals everywhere were outraged this week after Rush Limbaugh said a black man playing James Bond would be “ridiculous.” The comments were made on Tuesday in regard to leaked Sony emails that revealed that CEO Amy Paschal wanted the black actor Idris Elba to play James Bond. Rush, however, wasn’t having any of it. “James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is, was,” the conservative radio show host said. “But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland.” “That’s not who James Bond is and I know it’s racist to probably point this out,” he added. Petty pretentious hypocrisy. Affirmative action cannot be questioned in their eyes. Yet, they persist in inserting black actors into movies that have a proven track record of sales and notoriety. Why is that? Could it be their substitutes couldn’t bank as much book as the original venues.
If you want to stand on your own two feet like you tell everybody, try standing on your own two feet and be judged on originality and merit. Until then, you will be nothing but a forced recognition on society.

Yeah, and when Fleming wrote Bond’s character, there were no computers, and no cell phones, and there was no possibility of man going to space. All premises used by the present day Bond. Bond also seduced a black woman in one of the movies if I recall. Would Ian Fleming’s Bond have done that?

What Obama needed, worked for, and got , by separating and isolating his solid group of supporters the blacks through creating out of whole cloth stories of “victimization”.
Using circumstances where lawless black youths wound up dead in felonious struggles over guns held by figures of authority. Obama used his “Bully Pulpit to reinforce that “victim” agenda in Florida and Missouri. In both cases he portrayed authority as the agressors and the perpetrators as the “victims”
In Florida’s case success was indicated by the number of incidents where members of other races were attacked severly injured or murdered by black youths committing these assults in the name of the so called “victim” All the while Obama neither commented nor condemed such activity.
In Missouri he met with and issued a “stay the course” order to the Ferguson protesters. They in turn coordinated by the usual suspects organized nationwide protests.
Their purpose and result was a successful demonstration of what would happen if congress ever moved on any constitutional efforts to restrain or even remove Obama including“Impeachment”..
I wouldn’t be too happy about that either. I would want to be immersed in all that Norse mythology, and not seeing Amazonian, blonde Helgas would ruin the atmosphere. It’s not just the singing, it’s the whole immersion, with opera.

I agree that the difference between Bond and Mandela is that Bond is a fictional character, so there is more license to improvise. But you also have people suggesting that Jesus was Black or Gay or ____________ [fill in the blank].
At the end of the day, they have to ask themselves what would be the audience for a Black Bond? That is, if you assume they’re actually still in the business to make $$, vs. a statement.

None of those things change the core of Bond stories, which is Bond himself. I’ve always believed Bond worked best, anyway, in the early Sixties from whence it came. It gave Bond leeway to be the smooth, emotionally distant to women, man he was. he could slap the bad girl spy with out the whole world going PC-nuts over it.
My favorite Bond is “From Russia With Love”. Where Bond was Bond.
