The inimitable Howie Carr, Boston Herald columnist and syndicated talk show host, is on the case of MIT economist/Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber, and has written a priceless column outlining what may lie ahead for the man who considers American voters stupid. You see, Gruber, in billing various states and the feds millions of dollars in consulting fees, included substantial time billed to research assistants.
Perhaps you recall Grubers appearance before a Congressional committee last month. Whenever he was asked about providing back-up documentation for his multi-million-dollar bills, Goober would squeak: Youll have to take that up with my attorney.
Not his accountant, but his lawyer. Strange. I mean, according to Goobers bills, he must have had dozens upon dozens of research assistants. In Vermont, where his house-of-cards microsimulation fell apart earlier this month, the state has paid him $80,000 for 800 hours of research by his, ahem, assistants, at $100 per hour. (The per-fesser himself charges $500 an hour.) (snip)
The Vermont state auditor (a Democrat) is likewise looking for the research assistants names, Social Security numbers, W-2s, etc. Ditto, the (Republican) House Oversight and Government Reform committee. The Competitive Enterprise Institute has filed suit against Obamas Department of Health and Human Services to get the federal documents. A state rep in Minnesota is demanding a full refund of the $329,000 the Democrat governor handed over to his fellow traveler. (Goober predicted the Minnesota Obamacare plan would have 500,000 subscribers by now; it has 70,000. Hows that microsimulation workin out for ya, St. Paul?)
Im sure Goober figures hes bulletproof. Hes one of the Beautiful People. He gave John Kerry $2,000, Obama $1,000 and Donald Berwick, a local single-payer Kool Aid guzzler, $100. That kind of dough buys a lot of protection in the corrupt, narcissistic circles Goober travels in.

Typical leftist operative. Don’t expect to get any truth from him.
Agreed. Grubered is great poster child for what is wrong with Obamacare but beyond that a distraction. Why muddy up a perfect picture with details that might not be so incredibly clear?
I’m not normally a vindictive person but I can make an exception for this guy (and everyone that voted for and continues to support this abomination). I would like to see him pay back every penny he earned in his role as advisor. Then I’d like to see MIT fire him for the fraud he’s perpetrated against the American people. Then I’d like to see RIICO Act charges pressed on him and drive him thoroughly out of public life and out of his home and hopefully into jail for a couple of decades. And if that all works, somehow, begin the same proceedings on each and every dirtbag democrat that voted for it and all the RINOs that still support it. Hey, a fella can dream can’t he...?
The words that come to mind for Gruber invoke cruel and unusual punishment. Same goes for Lerner and Holder. So, I need to chill and let God take care of it in His own way. I am certain He will in good time.
Gruber is part of the government-university-complex. There are thousands just like him. The scam goes like this: government pays large sums in grants and fees for phoney analysis that backs up the Leftist policy agenda (see also “Global Warming”). The analysts are touted by the left as “impartial” and anyone who calls out the scam is called “anti-science”.
Gruber got a little too greedy and arrogant. He believed he was smart because he was making huge money off the scam. But he got careless. He submitted fraudulent invoices for hours he didn’t work and for research assistants (his graduate students) who aren’t his employees or subcontractors. He probably paid them a fraction of what was invoiced and didn’t pay withholding SS, etc. This makes even Democrat bureaucrats angry.
Now he’s in a tough spot. He either has to admit his fraud or falsify documents by back dating checks, time cards, etc.
Taking down Gruber is important on two fronts. It exposes the government-university-complex fraud, and it makes con men like Gruber who are working the system a lot more cautious.
Don’t think Gruber can cover up like Lerner. He’s already submitted the false paperwork and can’t explain all his billable hours. Republican reps smell blood and I don’t think they are going to let this go. With Gruber compromised and facing fraud charges, he may provide a path to bigger fish.
There is a different Law for politicians and their antics.
It's rather a bit much to expect the citizenry to swallow the fiction that the nation is a representative democratic Constitutional Republic, and the rule of law actually rules, when the largest criminal classes are the elected criminals and their criminal administrators.
Expect from the non-parasitic citizenry, at best, wholesale contempt for all laws and a seething revulsion at the anticipation of ultimate payback.
Either the Republic is restored, or it's not.
Hard to visualize the length and extent of the inevitable adjustment.
I just know that it won't be pretty. Also I hope that I am still alive to participate.
I am embarrassed that we should leave the fight to our grandchildren.
If the guy keeps his mouth shut through the 2016 election, the guy no one knows will get the outgoing Obama pardon.
Ah yes...
The speculative alternate future history defense...
These criminals actually believe in it as real and as valid as actual recorded history, no different than global warming and the ephemeral "energy credits."
The closest I can think of describing it is as "Crimes Against Humanity," and history is replete with the prior results of those!
Daryl Issa will get right on it.......
