I agree, not in a traditional sense, except perhaps in a few radical leftist enclaves. However, imagine a small group of citizens acting as unofficial and uninvited police auxiliaries.
They attend public gatherings where there is a greater chance of a small group attempting to create chaos, and if they see a group trying to start something, they quickly notify the police. Likewise they videotape and take pictures of suspects. And only if they see a felony or felonies in progress do they intervene.
This, too, is vigilantism. Even though it is just slightly more organized than are ordinary citizens acting on their own, because they are working as a team. Nothing illegal about it at all.

Check South Side of Chicago...didn’t see anyone starving when I drove through one summer day...plenty of food, clothing, and living...all on the backs of tax payers...then again - that’s every project and welfare system in the US! Instead of getting out of that situation, some do, most sit there pop out babies and shoot each other daily!
