A federal judge has ordered the District of Columbia to release the affidavit stemming from the Metropolitan Police Department's investigation of David Gregory after the "Meet the Press" host displayed a high-capacity ammunition magazine on the air while taping the program in NBC's Washington, D.C., studio in 2012.
William Jacobson, a conservative blogger, filed a Freedom of Information Act suit last year seeking the records after Gregory was not prosecuted despite warnings from D.C. police to producers that the display would be a clear violation of D.C.'s gun laws.

Why is it that David Gregory can get away with waving a 30rd magazine which is totally illegal in D.C. and a veteran who was arrested and jailed over an unregistered shotgun shell that was rolling around in his trunk ...D.C. too .....ps, he didn’t have the shotgun with him.

I have dozens of those. I have several laying around my reloading bench. I have some in the gun cabinet. I think there are a few laying around my camper and in my truck.
I could probably pull one out of the couch cushion, if I dug deep enough.
And they want to prosecute? For holding one in DC?

, then it`s legal.

No, in fact it could make matters worse.
A magazine size limit does not hinder a mass killer -- only the person who has to defend themselves against that killer.
Someone who's intent on committing mass murder has all the time they need to acquire as many ammunition magazines, which can be switched out in a fraction of a second, as they want beforehand.
The person who has to defend themselves against such an attack does not, because the threat is immediate. If they have a gun handy, at best all they will have with it is a single magazine. If that magazine has only five rounds, that's all the defender has, while still having to face a killer who has as much ammunition as they want.
