Jonathan Gruber Vindicates Governor Palin for a Hefty Fee
Conservatives4Palin ^ | December 31 2014 | Steve Flesher

We all remember it well.  Governor Palin’s infamous statement on what was to become ObamaCare way back in 2009:

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

Governor Palin wrote those comments in August of 2009 free of charge so that any American who had access to Facebook could benefit from them.

Two months later, Jonathan Gruber said pretty much the same thing re: ObamaCare: (h/t Daily Caller)

“The problem is it starts to go hand in hand with the mandate; you can’t mandate insurance that’s not affordable. This is going to be a major issue,” Gruber admitted in an October 2, 2009 lecture, the transcript of which comprised the policy brief.

[...]

Gruber also said that the only way to control costs is to effectively deny treatment.

“The real substance of cost control is all about a single thing: telling patients they can’t have something they want. It’s about telling patients, ‘That surgery doesn’t do any good, so if you want it you have to pay the full cost.’”

Also as you know, other Democrats (Howard Dean, Paul Krugman, etc.) said the same thing regarding the cost of the legislation and how it played into the rationing of care or procedures (see Michelle McCormick’s post last year).  And when it comes time to deny or ration, which types of patients do you think they’re going to start with?  As Governor Palin said, "the sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course."

So let’s recap.  In October of 2009, Jonathan Gruber officially warned of this behind closed doors at a pretty hefty charge to taxpayers.

Governor Palin says pretty much the same things months prior — out in the open — at no cost at all to taxpayers and it’s called "the lie of the year?"

I guess PolitiFact missed Jonathan Gruber.

I think Palin is right where she belongs, and she knows this. Her heart is in the game... plus, she's making money on the side. It's like wishing Clarence Thomas would run for the presidency, but knowing full well he is already where he belongs, doing his best to guard the gates. His absence from the SC would be absolutely tragic.

By being where she is, Palin has:

a)denied rabid liberals a valid target (they look stupid spending all their time bashing a TV show personality in a political setting)

b) recruits solid conservative political candidates and promotes them

c) Promotes conservative ideals and talking points outside the influence in DC where she could be effectively squelched by the GOP

I would love to see her in office, but her effectiveness would be diminished 1000 fold.

...She is to easily ignored now.

Yeah, you're ignoring her pretty hard. And so is the Left, whose tiny little heads explode every day when they realize Sarah Palin is still alive, breathing, and king-makin' - unlike the loser old bag Hillary!

a sitting senator cannot travel around the country campaigning for candidates in other states for an entire year. this is why she’s been so effective

Sarah plays to win ... and the stakes are no less then the future of the country

Sarah Palin is so dumb that she doesn’t know that there are 57 states, or that our country was founded 200 centuries ago. She doesn’t know that the FBI is 100 days old, or that reforms bring greater inefficiencies to the healthcare system. She doesn’t even know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, that Israel is a good friend of Israel, that you treat asthma with a breathalyzer, or that there is a term for that in the Austrian language.

What an idiot she must be not to know these things!

She just might be a senator one day in the not too distant future, given her detestation of the Murkowskis. (And vice versa.)

“Look, dear! The PDS’rs are out early this thread!”

The PDS’rs simply can’t help themselves. They are absolutely compelled to make their negative posts regarding Palin.

Perhaps one day someone will come up with a cure to this severe mental illness.

Very well put. She has indeed been a positive force for the nation.

If / when Palin announces she’s running for the 2016 nomination, as the GOP candidate for President.

Then, she will in one fell swoop, negate all of this PDS activity.

Until then, I think it is unavoidable.

Palin had a whole lot of us raring to go, and ready to climb on board the Palin train last time around.

She backed out, at the last minute.

I don’t hold it against her, but I understand a whole lot of people are likely still smarting from that.

Just keep in mind PDS gang, if and when Palin actually announces this time around, then get back on board.

:D

You must have missed this thread the other day

Palin achieved what such luminaries as President Obama did not: a place in the Smithsonian’s prestigious “Most Significant” list. After being written off by many in the media, and especially the left, as “irrelevant” and predicted by MSNBC’s Krystal Ball as “not going to have an effect on the [2014] midterms,” Palin’s record of success of her endorsed candidates was nothing short of phenomenal.

Governor Palin endorsed 22 candidates for various offices during the midterm finals, including senators, governors, lieutenant governors, congressmen, and attorneys general. Of those so endorsed, an incredible 20 were elected – contrasted with, for example, Hillary Clinton’s record of 8 wins out 24 endorsed candidates.

It’s about telling patients, ‘That surgery doesn’t do any good, so if you want it you have to pay the full cost.’”

Unless it's "sex change" surgery - medically unnecessary and an invasive procedure to treatcater to a mental problem.
