I was told by a Brit that when you go to hospital and do not have a loud advocate who will speak up for you, you will be likely put in a back room and ignored. You might be lucky to receive nourishment and pain medication. He told me that it is common knowledge, so people work to make sure they have an advocate.

” He told me that it is common knowledge, so people work to make sure they have an advocate.”

I think that’s even true to a certain extent in the USA.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

This Brit is telling you that’s nonsense.

Having just endured my husband’s stay in the hospital, let me tell you that it is important for any patient to have an advocate with you as much as possible even in the US. He wasn’t neglected, but the staffing was so tight that I did most of the basic care for him.
