Israel, US Urge ICC To Reject Palestinian Bid To Join

Jerusalem — January 1, 2015 … Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a discussion this afternoon on the Palestinian Authority’s application to various international treaties, and made the following remarks at the end of the meeting:

“We expect the International Criminal Court to reject outright the Palestinian Authority’s hypocritical act because the Palestinian Authority is not a state,” said Netanyahu.

“It is an entity in alliance with a terrorist organization, Hamas, which perpetuates war crimes. The State of Israel is a nation of laws with a moral army that upholds international law. We will defend the soldiers of the IDF just as they defend us.”

According to several international legal experts, it is very unlikely that the ICC would even launch criminal proceedings against Israelis for actions and policies vis-à-vis the Palestinians. Even if it did, and eventually issued indictments, it would take many years before any convictions were handed down.

In the best-case scenario for Israel, the Palestinians’ intended complaints against Israeli officials would constitute little more than a nuisance, causing some negative PR.

And will the ICC advance the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestine, presumably Abbas’s prime goal? Not at all.

US State Department spokesman Edgar Vasquez warned it would be “counter-productive and do nothing to further the aspirations of the Palestinian people for a sovereign and independent state.”

“It will badly damage the atmosphere with the very people with whom they ultimately need to make peace,” Vasquez said in a statement.

What we are truly witnessing here is not a legal battle. Rather, it is a contest between who has a more effective PR machine.

So let’s begin.

How many thousands of missiles did the Palestinian Unity government consisting of the Palestinian Authority and Hamas launch at Israeli cities and towns? How many terror tunnels were discovered? How many buses, hotels, schools and restaurants in Israel were bombed by the Palestinians?

How many Israeli children have been murdered?

But perhaps the most profound question Israel may ask at the ICC would be: “who funds Hamas and how long has Qatar, Iran and Turkey provided both monies and military equipment to commit these crimes against humanity?”

Unbelievable that they might just make it onto the iCC. What a joke that would be.

It would be like putting Charles Manson on the Prison Parole Board.

Charles Manson on the Parole Board is a more rational choice than the Palestinian Authority as a member of ICC. The ICC is determined to indict all leaders of both Israel and the regime now in control of the territory once known as “the United States of America”, as well as any past leaders of that formerly great nation they can find alive.

This is no joke. The effect will be, that authorities of Israel will have big troubles if they want to travel in Europe, since they are on wanted lists and in danger to be arrested. Although most European gouvernments have absoulutely no interest to mess around with Israel they do not have much influence on this issue since the parliaments do not want to have Israelis involved into the Palestina-conflict inside the EU. They are simly unwanted persons. BTW - same thing with some CIA-members in good old Europe. Since it is a proven fact that they used torture to press captives they are in danger to be arrested if they enter Europe. Most gouvernments probably will try to end such prosecution silenty and expell the people in question. I do not believe into show trials. Nevertheless it is a rigid blow to all persons involved. Their freedom of movement is quite limited in the meantime.

Regards from Europe

Andreas
